The nine new faculty members in the Mount Ayr Community school district this year include Suzi ANGUS, special education
teacher at the secondary level and at the alternative school; Eric EHLEN, junior high health, junior high study hall
and assistant high school wrestling coach; John FLANERY, vocal music in Mount Ayr and Grand Valley; Donna KEMERY, elementary
Chapter I teacher; Dale KURTH, junior high language arts, high school speech and drama, drama club sponsor; Karen
TAYLOR, elementary Chapter I teacher and aide; Jane UHLENKAMP, elementary art teacher at Mount Ayr and Grand Valley;
Brian WEIDENTHALER, computers and technology and academic decathlon; and Julie WEIDENTHALER, junior high science and
co-junior high student council sponsor.
Dillon COMBS, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Rich COMBS of Atlantic, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylan COMBS and
the great-grandson of Cuma COMBS, all of Mount Ayr, has been named "The Coca Cola Kid." This means that Dillon is being
featured on this year's brochure and posters advertixing "Coca Cola Days" in Atlantic, Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 21-24.
He is wearing the hand-crafted costume, a replica of a coke can, that won him first place in the kiddies parade two years
ago. he won several prizes and was interviewed by the local paper in Atlantic.
