RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, September 22, 1955

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

A yearling Hereford bull, owned and exhibited by Loren TRULLINGER, placed first in its class and was reserve champion at the Northwest Missouri State Fair at Bethany. TRULLINGER owns and operates a farm nine miles south of Mount Ayr in Middle Fork township.

Neighbors recently put up alfalfa hay for Mr. and Mrs. Alex SALTZMAN at their farm south of Mount Ayr. Mr. SALTZMAN suffered a stroke several weeks ago, since which time he has been hospitalized. Sharing in the "good neighbor" deed were Rollin FRY, Kermit MILLER, George GERMAN, Arthur DEIBERT, Roy SHEUMAKER, Barton TURNER, Ed KESTERSON and Omer HOLTZMAN.

Rev. William T. MILLER, pastor of the Methodist churches at Kellerton and Beaconsfield for the last four and one-half years, has been appointed pastor of the Asbury Methodist Church of Des Moines by Bishop F. Gerald ENSLEY of the Des Moines area. Rev. MILLER will begin his work at Asbury Church October 1 and will move with his family to Des Moines Sept. 27.

Mrs. Herman J. HAUSHEER has accepted the position as home economist for Ringgold county on a temporary basis. Mrs. HAUSHEER was home economist in Johnson county at Iowa City in 1952 and 1953 during the time Dr. HAUSHEER was in medical school there. Dr. and Mrs. HAUSHEER came to Mount Ayr in July after Dr. HAUSHEER completed his internship at Broadlawns General Hospital in Des Moines. They have one son, Brian, two years of age.

Seven members of one family escaped injury about 9:40 a.m. Sunday when their car was demolished in an accident which happened two and one-half miles south of the Union-Ringgold county line on Highway 169.

The Hudson car, driven by Mrs. Madge SCHOFF of Afton and occupied by Mr. SCHOFF and their five children, left the highway and overturned in a field after a tire blew out. The accident was investigated by Ivan JOHNSTON, deputy sheriff of Ringgold county.

Lloyd Max REYNOLDS, 29, who pled guilty to county attorney's information charging larceny of property valued at more than $20, was sentenced Sept. 12 by Judge Charles J. LEWIS to a term not to exceed five years at the men's reformatory at Anamosa.

Charged with stealing batteries and other property from the McClain Construction Company, with which firm he was employed on the building of highway No. 169, he was arrested Sept. 10 by Sheriff H. P. TODD at Saint Charles. He was taken to Anamosa last Tuesday by Sheriff TODD and C. E. HOOVER, former deputy sheriff.
