The BARKER and CROSS Service Station was moved last week from Highways 3 and 169 to the new paved highway
directly south from their former location.
Mr. and Mrs. Alden SACKETT moved the first of the week from Iowa Falls, where they have lived for the past year.
Mr. SACKETT will operate a service station which Miss DOWLING expects to build on her property three blocks
south of the southeast corner of the squar.
Earl DUGAN spent Wednesday in Des Moines purchasing equipment for the new service station which he will
commence building today on his lot south of the southwest corner of the square on the NW highway.
Appointments of pastors of churches in the Iowa-Des Moines Methodist Conference were announced Sunday. The
Rev. E.H. JACKSON, pastor of the Mount Ayr church for the past two years, was assigned to the church at Bayard,
and the Rev. Thomas G. KELLY, of New Virginia, comes to Mount Ayr. Other assignments are as follows: Blockton,
Redding and Middle Fork, E.B. STEWART; Beaconsfield and Grand River, Jack FISHER; Ellston and Tingley, L.M. KIRBY;
Clearfield, M.O. McKENZIE; Diagonal, C.W. PROCTOR; Kellerton, O.L. JONES; Shannon City and Arispe, A.C. STARK.
