Coming to the stage in Mount Ayr this weekend is the Moonlighter Theater Group's production of "Nuncrackers," the
Nunsense Christmas musical.
A mistake by a technician at the Kennedy Space Center may result in Peggy WHITSON spending
Christmas and New Year's in space. That's the worst case scenario any way. The first launch attempt for STS-113, Peggy
WHITSON'S ride home was on November 10. It was scrubbed due to a leaky oxygen line.
After months of
investigation,a well-known northwest Missouri cattleman, George L. YOUNG, and a partner working together in a cattle
investment business have been indicted by a federal grand jury in the largest financial fraud case ever prosecuted in
the western district of Missouri.
Ringgold county had a visitor this week who was passing through on her way to
Washington, D.C. on foot. Jeanette WALLIS and her dog, Sherpa, are on a "Walk ForDemocracy" across the country that
began in Seattle, WA in April 2001. Since then they have traveled through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska,
Kansas and Iowa.
A Mount Ayr Community high school student will be playing with the Iowa All-State orchestra at the
all-state music festival in Ames Saturday, Nov. 23. Clara TERRELL of Maloy will play her oboe. This is TERRELL'S
second time to play at all-state. She played with the all-state band two years go before spending a year in Germany
as an exchange student. TERRELL is the daughter of Brian TERRELL and Betsy KEENAN of Maloy.
Ringgold Mutual Insurance
Association of Mount Ayr has been selected to receive recognition as an Iowa Century Business. Company board president
Bob ERICKSON and his wife, Shirley, and Bob SHAFER and his wife, Sheila, all of Mount Ayr, will represent the company
at the awards ceremony.
An open house is planned Sunday, Nov. 24, at Wildbird Ridge Hunt Club near Mount Ayr. Steve
and Gloria MEYERS are inviting the public to tour the lodge and see the hunting club they have developed.
Ringgold
county has a new county supervisor after Republican Wayne KEMERY was sworn in this week. KEMERY was elected to fill
the unexpired term of the late Lloyd BEDIER. Barbara BOWER had been filling the post until KEMERY was elected.
