Thursday, September 11, 2014: September 8 - Modern Mothers club will meet Wednesday evening in the home of Julia
STEPHENS. Kay HOVE is in charge of entertainment. The community would like to express sympathy to Joan STRINGHAM and
Malinda SWANK on the loss of their friend Linda KING. Joan and Malinda spent many days last week with Linda KING at the
nursing home. Mary and Junior SWANK attended the wedding and reception for Kevin Stewart and Ashley HARTSOOK on
Saturday night.

Mt. Ayr HealthCare and congratulated Paul and Frances SMITH on their 70th wedding anniversary. They also went to the
Ringgold County Hospital open house and enjoyed the tour of the hospital. Patty SOBOTKA, Mary GEPNER and Jake and
AJ GEPNER attended the 90th birthday party for Retha DILLENBURG at the Mt. Ayr Fire House on Sunday afternoon.

Condolences go out to the families of Staci PALMER and Helen Louise FROIT. Staci was always smiling. It was
easy to get a hug from her daily. She will be missed by everyone. Louise was a special character. She had stories she could

activities. Anita enjoyed Bingo games and special events. She especially looked forward to her summer trips to Camp
Sunnyside. Anita will be missed by all the staff and residents. She was a fixture at Clearview.

the "Spirit of 45 Day" at the American Legion on Thursday. They were honored, along with other Ringgold county WWII
veterans, for their service that made our freedom possible.

Moines and weighed eight pounds, two ounces. Parents are Joe and Lindsey CATANZARETI and grandparents
are Joe and Susie CATANZARETI and Merle and Rhonda TRIGGS. Great-grandparents are Dick and Joanne
GREEN, Iona TRIGGS and Rose JAMES. Joe and Susie, Iona TRIGGS and Rose JAMES made their acquaintance
with the baby and visited with his parents that afternoon.

December 30 (delayed) - The community offers deepest sympathy to the family of Gabe BOECKMAN, whose mass was
held at Mount Ayr followed by burial in the Redding cemetery Saturday. Gabe was the widower of Jean COMBE
BOECKMAN who grew up in the area.

January 27 - Bev and Walt McGINNIS and Charlie and Vickie JEANES were among those attending the soup supper
to benefit the Redding Frontier building upkeep Sunday evening. There was a great crowd considering how the
temps were dropping and wind blowing. It was the perfect night for hot soup and warm fellowship.

March 10 - Lizzie HANAWALT, Kayla and Tyler and Vickie JEANES attended the baby shower/luncheon for Garret and Traci
REYNOLDS at the Southwest Iowa REC building Saturday. Sunday afternoon Lizzie took Kayla and Tyler to Lucky Lanes
for Jacob MURRAY'S fifth birthday party. They thought they had a wonderful time with this new experience.
Charlie and Vickie JEANES took Snowball HANKS to the Oldtowne Cafe in Allendale, MO for lunch Tuesday to celebrate
his birthday.

Thursday, June 12, 2014: June 9 - Terry DOROTHY will give a slide presentation of her trip to the Holy Land at the
Hickory Grove Church at 10:30 a.m. This will be very interesting and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the presentation.
Ronnie and Jo Kaye SHIELDS and John and Rose CAMPBELL motored to Bondurant on Sunday and attended a benefit for Michelle
(Mrs. Jeff) BEDIER who is suffering from cancer. Michelle was a former teacher at the Diagonal School.
~ ~ ~ ~June 26, 2014: June 22 - Thoughts and prayers go out to Amon HUNT and his family
with the death of his sister, Marilyn SIMPSON of St. Joseph, MO. Amon accompanied Estelle HALL and daughter, Marlene
and Doris OVERHOLSER to St. Joseph and attended memorial services for Marilyn. Roberta LAMB FARMER, of Clarinda and
formerly of Mount Ayr died one day the past week. Her funeral service was Saturday in Clarinda and burial was at the Rose
Hill cemetery in Mount Ayr. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Rose JAMES attended her sixtieth high school
class reunion on Saturday at the REC community room in Mount Ayr. Many thanks goes to everyone who helped organize the event.
Ronnie and Jo Kaye SHIELDS attended the 60th Reunion of the Class of 1954 which was held at the REC building in Mt. Ayr.

Thursday, July 31, 2014: July 29 - Prayers and condolences go out to the family of Shelly and Kelly JAMES. Shelly's
mother, Mary THOMPSON of Creston, died Saturday morning. Visitation was Monday evening and burial on Tuesday. Walt and
Beverly McGINNIS attended the HENSLEY cousins reunion Saturday evening in Redding at the Frontier Hall. Beverly was
pleased to have their aunt, Nadene HENSLEY attending.

Thursday, August 07, 2014: August 4 - The community sends prayers and condolences to the family of Charlie BLACK. He
died of cancer on Tuesday. Charlie grew up in this neighborhood and was the son of Ernest and Sadie BLACK.

cemetery on Saturday at 3 P.M. As reported last week, Charlie was the son of Ernest and Sadie BLACK who were long time
farmers here. Prayers and concerns go out to the family and friends.

side service at Rose Hill cemetery in Mount Ayr on Saturday for Charlie BLACK. Afterwards, family and friends gathered
at the Fireside restaurant in Diagonal.

Snowball HANKS, who lived in Redding. He was a friend to everyone. Condolences and prayers goes out to his family

Thursday, September 04, 2014: A surprise 80th birthday party for Ronnie SHIELDS was
held on Sunday, evening with a fish fry at his home (AND WAS HE SURPRISED!!!). The BOOARD family, Joe and Sharon Board
and Randy, Shondel and Lauren MARTIN of Leon and Judy BOORD of Altoona were the chefs who did an excellent job frying fish
and onion rings for 60 people. John and Rose CAMPBELL and house guests Rich and Debbie SHELDON and Isaac made five gallons
of homemade ice cream served with a farm themed cake decorated by Amber FOOKEN. Those who attended were: Bill SHIELDS, Sioux

September 15 - Friends and neighbors gives a big thank you to Junior WION and Kenneth WEBB for hosting the
Waterson reunion on Saturday niht. A thank you goes to Joe and Nora FUERMMELER for the use of their facilities
at the Waterson corner and also to the band for the good music. The food was wonderful and plenty of it which we
need to be very thankful. There was a fairly good crowd (considering the cooler than normal temperatures) and the
band provided good music. Among the neighbors attending were Charlie and Vickie JEANES, Walt and Bevery McGINNIS,
Lawrence and Margaret BISHOP, Neil and Irma JOHNSTON and Rose JAMES. Charlie and Vickie JEANES attended the ninety-fifth
birthday party for Doris Monday, which was held at her farm home.

and reception of Melonie MOBLEY and Chris GEORGE. The wedding was at the Catholic Church in Mount Ayr and the reception
was at the Legion Hall. Lizzie HANAWALT and Tyler attended the reception.

The open house is set for Sunday, January 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Ellston United Methodist

March 10 - The benefit for John and Dee EURITT Saturday evening was well attended and the people from this area
were very supportive. The EURITTS are still suffering with the latest cold/sinus bug. John was not able to
attend due to his lack of strength during his illness. Dee attended, along with her friends Pat STRAIGHT and Richard
O'DELL. Pat and Richard have been very generous in giving John and Dee a temporary home while their house
is rewired and made ready for cleanup [after a house fire.] With all the bugs going around the county, friends and family
have been too weak or ill to help. They will all be very thankful when spring finally arrives. The days of
warm up and then frigid cold at night play havoc with our stamina. Several attended their fund-raiser and
made generous contributions.

May 05 - Monday Justin and Kristen AKERS and family hosted several of Justin's Graceland students at their home, where
they enjoyed seeing the baby lambs and other farm animals as well as enjoying dinner. Justin AKERS enjoyed having lunch
with his college friend, Alan HARMS, who is originally from Iowa but currently lives and works in Germany.
Dick and Camille JACKSON returned Tuesday from Mesa, AZ after a week's visit with her mother, Florence LAWHEAD. They attended
visitation and funeral services in Des Moines for Theresa JACKSON'S mother, Ann LARSON, Wednesday and Thursday. Saturday
they traveled to Des Moines to hear Nicholas and Eleanor JACKSON play in their piano recital.

celebrate her birthday. Dick and Camille JACKSON attended Camille's Mount Ayr Community School Class of '64 class reunion
on Friday evening at the Fireside Restaurant in Diagonal. They joined other classmates for further celebration and reminiscing on Saturday evening at the Mount Ayr

Thursday, June 12, 2014: Dick and Camille JACKSON helped Esther JACKSON celebrate her 94th birthday on June 3 at her home
in Clearview Nursing Home, room 106. On Saturday, they celebrated their anniversary early by enjoying dinner with Theresa and Nicholas JACKSON in Des Moines,
then attending the Tony Bennett concert.

Thursday, June 19, 2014: June 16 - Dee and John EURITT are continuing to work on their house. They do have some family
coming to help for a while and will make some headway then. Dee says she feels like she is running a race that will never
be over. She was reminiscing about the old family reunions they used to have in the old City Hall. She recalls many people
from the community coming to them as so many were related - the WHITES, CASEYS, MICKAELS, SAVILLES; and remembers her Great
Aunt Pearl MICHAEL (the former switchboard operator) loved to make fired chicken for everyone for the event. Dee and John
have several outdoor kittens and cats available for someone to give a good home to. They even have some bob-tailed ones.
Friday, Sandy CAMPBELL met Vince and Vicki JACKSON to go to Methodist Hospital to see Harold FOLAND. Harold had a three-way
bypass on Monday and another surgery on Monday evening. He wasn't able to be taken to a room until Friday as he had complications.
He is now getting around with some help, and will be there a few more days. His family has been with him for the duration.
He is in room 363 at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines 50309. Rod and Debbie HOLMES attended the wedding of
Calob STILL and Amanda HURT in Mount Ayr on Saturday afternoon. Chad HOLMES was one of the groomsmen. Their children
and grandchildren were visitors on Sunday for Fathers Day.

Corrinia HEWLETT in Lynnwood, MO on Friday, then attended the reception at the Silver Spur in Grand River afterward.
Sandy CAMPBELL reported that Harold FOLAND returned home last week from his hospital stay. Daughter, Stacey, has returned
to TX. Harold had quite a way to go, as he has been through a lot during his hospitalization. He will be starting therapy soon.

June 30 - Pete and Larita LESAN returned to their rural Kellerton home on Thursday, June 26 after spending the past month
caring for her sister, Mary Ann KEIM, in Glendale, AZ. Mary Ann suffered from Lung and Bone Cancer the past two years and
passed away on June 20. Pete and Larita LESAN attended the Rylan McCUNN and Ashley MORLAND wedding in Greenfield, IA on
Saturday evening. Dr. Carlin and Vicki LAWHEAD of Muscatine were guests of Dick and Camille JACKSON. While there,
they attended Carlin's Mount Ayr Community High School 40th class reunion. Marlene GREIMANN attended the wedding of
her oldest grandson, Aaron GODDARD in Madrid, Iowa this weekend. She went to Chariton and on to the wedding with daughter,
Tammy GODDARD and family. ~ ~ ~ ~Thursday, July 03, 2014:
MARRIAGE LICENSE: Johnathan Edwin WATKINS of Kellerton and Jennifer Lee CHAMPLIN of Kellerton. Married June 15,
2014. Date marriage filed June 16, 2014. Jan HOLMES and Kathryn STILL received word on Thursday of the death of their
Aunt Dorothy McDOWELL of North Henderson, Illinois. Dorothy was the sister of Wilson HOLMES, and had celebrated her 99th
birthday in April. Jan and Kathryn attended the funeral services in Illinois on Saturday. David and Connie HOLMES of Minnesota
also attended the services and Jan and Kathryn got a chance to visit with them on Friday evening in Galesburg. The sisters
returned home on Saturday evening.

Sandy CAMPBELL attended an O.E.S. meeting in Lamoni on Saturday at Lohre FISHERS where she was honored to receive her
50 year certificate and pin. She joined the lodge at Kellerton in June of 1964. They had a nice luncheon and meeting. It
was a very special day for Sandy. She was blessed to make it to 50 years.

Thursday, September 04, 2014: Camille and Dick JACKSON spent August 20-24 in Mesa,
AZ helping her mother, Florence LAWHEAD, celebrate her 93rd birthday. In September, Florence will be moving to Maple
Ridge in Mount Ayr. Connie and Rod SMITH hosted an anniversary party for Rich and Jody HENSLEY on Sunday. There were
nearly 50 people in attendance. Several people helped Betty STUART celebrate her 85th birthday at the Kellerton
Community Center on Sunday. She reported she had a wonderful day.

Thursday, September 18, 2014:
Dick JACKSON and Roger GIBSON visited with members of Dick's family in Wichita on the way to AZ this past week.
Dick's cousin, Jim TURNER, age 70, passed away on August 29 and his funeral was held September 6 at Asbury United
Methodist Church. Jim was an attorney. Jim's mother was Ruth JACKSON TURNER of Kellerton. His father,
James TURNER grew up in Mount Ayr. The family moved from Kellerton to Wichita in the early 1950's.Jim has enjoyed
recent visits to Kellerton, attending the Methodist Church and reminiscing about his early memories of Kellerton.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sarah (Geoffrey) HOUSTON of San Diego, CA and Mary TIMM of
St. Louis, MO; grandson Jackson HOUSTON; and his sister Laura (Paul) DYKSTRA of Wichita. Other local relatives
of Jim besides the JACKSON family include Margaret TURNER BISHOP. Dick and Camille JACKSON, Roger GIBSON and Collus
LAWHEAD returned home Thursday after a ten day trip to move Florence LAWHEAD from Mesa, AZ to her new home at Maple
Ridge in Mount Ayr. The driving and flight trip departures back to Iowa were extended a day because of the flooding
conditions in Mesa. Florence arrived by plane on Tuesday, was met by Jane LAWHEAD and had been staying with Jane and
Collus before moving in to her apartment this past Sunday. Charlie GIBSON, Brad STILL, Brandon STILL and Brock STILL
helped unload the truck Friday. Randy, Theresa, Nicholas and Eleanor JACKSON helped Saturday with unpacking. The family
are thankful for all of the help here and to be home safely.

Thursday, October 02, 2014: Sandy CAMPBELL went Thursday to the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab to hear grandson Casey
CAMPBELL of Bethany entertain with piano and singing. Several persons other than residents were present to enjoy
the entertainment. He did a great job and all of the residents really enjoyed the program. A lot of them were
singing along, as well as getting up to dance.

visits with Lawrence and Margaret TURNER BISHOP, Esther JACKSON, Luann JACKSON, and Florence LAWHEAD of Mount Ayr;
Vivian JACKSON of Pleasant Hill; Nancy BRESHLER of Lemars; Joy and Alan STOUT of Newton; and Bob and June BOLES of Osceola.
They also attended the fall soup supper at the Kellerton United Methodist Church.

Jan HOLMES and Kathryn STILL were Creston shoppers on Friday, stopped in for a short visit with Greg and Crystal STILL
and Alexis, and made the acquaintance of Logan Matthew Chad STILL, who had just been released from the hospital. Mamma
Crystal returned home on Thursday, and Logan had regained some of the 4 ounces he had lost after birth. He now weighs
4 pounds and 12 ounces, and is doing very well, as is Momma.

County Cares held at the United Baptist-Presbyterian Church and had their April meeting Saturday. Members from Maloy were
Paige LYNCH, Laura and Amber DAVIDSON, Wyatt and Hannah JACKSON and Maddie, Emma and Gracie MOBLEY. Wyatt gave a
presentation on how 4-H has influenced his life in many ways beyond just 4-H meetings.

May 05 - Liz LYNCH, former Maloy correspondent, has a new great-granddaughter. Ayla Grace CHRISTIANSON was born on
March 29 to Dr. Valorie LYNCH CHRISTIANSON and Shane CHRISTIANSON. She weighed eight pounds, four ounces and was 20 1/2
inches long. She is welcomed by a brother, Austin CHRISTIANSON of Fort Dodge. Grandparents are Randall and Donita LYNCH
and Audrey CHRISTIANSON of Ankeny. Another great-grandmother is Emil HAINLINE of Clearview Estates.

a heart attack. Richard, Carol, Robert and Julie DAVISON went to St. Joe, MO to visit Rodney who is getting a long well
after surgery.

June 2 - The Middle School Awards Day was held on Wednesday. Paige LYNCH, Emma MOBLEY, Hannah JACKSON, Alyssa JOHNSON and
Amber DAVISON were among the students to receive several athletic and academic awards. A special congratulation goes to eighth grader Alyssa JOHNSON. She received the high academic award for being the only
student to have a GPA of 4.0 for both seventh and eighth grades. Congratulations to this soon to be high school student. Many
parents and grandparents were in attendance to see the accomplishments of the students.

Thursday, June 12, 2014: June 09 - Congratulations to Riley WEEHLER. He won the Iowa High School Rodeo calf roping
Championship at the High School Rodeo finals in Waterloo over the weekend. Also, he and his roping partner, Payden DAWSON, took
second in the team roping event. The young men will be competing in both events in the National High School Rodeo in
Rock Springs, Wyoming in July. His parents, Neil and Jill and his grandparents Steve and Cheryl TAYLOR were there
for the rodeo. Payton WEEHLER spent the weekend with Dick and Joyce WEEHLER.

Raines, Mya and Rowan SACKETT and James, Jill and Nolan BARTH. Carole, Julie, Amber and Darla DAVISON
went to a baby shower for Mikaela FOWLER in Norwalk on Sunday. Joe and Donna WARIN attended a couples shower in
honor of Tanner RINEHART and Tess MYER on Saturday night at Loch Ayr. Sunday Kevin, Melanie and Hannah JACKSON took
Wyatt to Grinnell College for band camp to prepare for his trip to Europe and other students from Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Thursday, July 17, 2014: The 1944 class from Maloy had their 70th year class reunion. There were three members in
the original class. The two remaining members, Victor SMITH and Wanda McGAHUEY, enjoyed time together a couple of weeks
ago. Victor and his wife Shirley are from Portland, OR. The group meet with Nina SALTZMAN who graduated from Redding
70 years ago.

Thursday, July 31, 2014: The Maloy community lost a long time Maloy resident. Elizabeth LYNCH passed away Tuesday
afternoon in the Clearview Home with family with her. She was David LYNCH'S mother, grandmother to Jason LYNCH and aunt
of Joyce WEEHLER and Joan JACKSON from this community. Liz led a full life in so many ways. Her love for her family was
so strong. Liz was active in her church and community. She was a dedicated supporter of 4-H, first as a member and later
as a long time leader. Liz wrote the news from Maloy for the Record-News for 45 years. Many family members and
former neighbors were able to attend her funeral on Saturday. Some of the former neighbors who were able to attend services
were Chuck BRABY, Joann MATHEWS, Patti CULVER and Jane WHEELEN. Our sympathies go to the LYNCH family. Thursday Craig and
Kathi BRABY and Jane BUCK attended the visitation for Liz LYNCH. Saturday they attended the funeral. Later they attended
the 1979 class reunion with Cary and Debbie BRABY and Todd and Carme LILIENTHAL. Sunday Craig and Kathi visited with
Jane BUCK enjoying the wonderful weather at Clearview. The Maloy Shamrocks 4-H club made and served food for the
Garry BJUSTROM memorial golf night on Friday evening. Helping from Maloy were Julie, Laura and Amber DAVISON, Melanie,
Wyatt and Hannah and Amy Maddie and Gracie MOBLEY. Saturday Tim and Mel BURTON went to Indianola for the truck and
tractor pull. Tim placed first in his class. Melanie and Hannah JACKSON, Wendell and Joan JACKSON and Dick and Joyce
WEEHLER attended funeral services for Liz LYNCH.

Thursday, July 17, 2014: The past Friday as a special day at the meal site. A short memorial service for Judy
POTTORFF was led by Joyce SMITH. Several shared special memories of Judy. The meal site was fortunate to receive a
memorial monetary gift from Judy's family. We will some have new Bingo equipment due to the memorial. Judy loved
playing and calling Bingo so it is only fitting that some of the memorial be used for it. It was also the monthly
birthday dinner to celebrate July birthdays. Judy loved the cakes for dinners so the special birthday cake was also
dedicated to her. She is greatly missed at the meal site. She came early to volunteer, play cards and visit with
others. She will be remembered whenever we play Bingo. Thanks to Brownie calling now so those who like to play
Bingo can continue to enjoy it. Those celebrating July birthdays were Pauline MURPHY (16), who also provided the
ice cream and Faye SICKELS (17). Beulah WALTER is also celebrating her 90th birthday on the 16. She rarely misses coming
to the meal site and we hope her health will permit her to come for a long time to come. Sympathy is extended to Lorita
LESAN whose sister died recently in Arizona. Lorita was able to spend some time with her prior to her death and was
with her when she passed away.

December 30 (delayed) - The John MULLET family of Milton spent Saturday with parents/grandparents, Eli YODERS, David
YODERS and Aaron TROYERS were there as well. The men folks cut and store ice that forenoon. It was eight inches
thick and good quality.
Eli MILLER had quite an ordeal in his shop when he fainted and laid unconscious for some time when his little dog
came by and licked his face and woke him up. He was conscious and aware of what happened and made his way into the
house. His son, Reuben of Harwood, MO, was in the area several days to visit them.
The parochial schools will resume classes again Monday morning, Dec. 30.

January 16, 2014:
Church was at the Ora HOCHSTETLER home. Special guests were Toby and Marie GINGERICH Vernon and Naomi SCHROCK, John
Henry and Sarah Miller and two little girls and Toby and Barbara MAST and two little girls. They returned to their
Jamesport, MO homes towards evening.
Vernon and Mary TROYER received the news of a great-grand boy born to Roman and Annie (SPEICHER) DETWEILER of Princeton,
MO. First-time grandparents are Junior and Becky DETWEILER of Princeton, Mo and Rudy SPEICHERS of Belleville, PA.
Joe DETWEILERS of Princeton, MO are the other great-grandparents. One great-great-grandmother is Mrs. Dan (Sarah)
HERSHBERGER of Stuarts Draft, VA.
Ivan TROYER (Paul's) had quite an episode Friday evening while skating when a miscue caused him to fall knocking
him unconscious for a while. Finally he did revive but was confused and mixed up. He also threw up several times.
Needless to say, this scared the rest of the skaters. The skating ended for that evening. Ivan is feeling all right
at this time, if he doesn't walk around.

Eli YODER, Jr. attended a seminar in Kalona pertaining to Purple Martins. He traveled with others from Jamesport, MO
and Princeton MO. The families of Junior MILLERS, Jonas TROYERS, Reuben TROYERS, Jacob PLANKS, David YODERS
and Aaron TROYERS made a short visit with Nelson TROYERS Sunday afternoon and also to take a peek at the new
baby now three weeks old. Milo and Emma YODER BEECHY have now moved to his home community in Hale, MI. Her cheerful
smile and willing, helping hands will be missed in the home, church and community. ~ ~ ~ ~Thursday, May 01, 2014: April 28 - Mary TROYER had been on a
trip to Stuarts Draft, VA to visit her mother, Sarah HERSHBERGER, who is 94. Granddaughter Laura YUTZY of Bloomfield was
her traveling companion. Traveling by Amtrak is a good way to travel, although trains being delayed through freight
trains is not so pleasant and that connections are missed. They were put on a bus in Gailsburg (sic), IL and traveled
cross country to Indianapolis, IN where the pre-scheduled ride connected again, much to their relief.

spent Wednesday with grandma, Mary TROYER. They did a good job of shining windows and mowing yard plus catching up
on the latest news. ~ ~ ~ ~
Thursday, June 19, 2014: June 16 - Corn ground is workable again after the eight inches of rain the first week in June, as
well as the gardens. Levi and Rosa MILLER, Eli and Lydia YODER were to Carrolton, MO on Saturday for the funeral of
Amelia BONTAGER, picking up people in Bethany and Stanberry. Levi and Ruby MAST and baby and Kathryn MAST (Hermans) are
in Homer, MI, visiting parents and friends. The annual ice cream supper for the community was at Jacob SCHROCKS Wednesday evening.
~ ~ ~ ~June 26, 2014: June 22 - Eli and Franie HOHSTETLER went up state New York in the
Conewago Valley area for their grandmother, Mrs. More Martha SHELTER'S funeral last week. A sister, the Levi SHELTERS of
Chariton, traveled with them. Sam MILLERS lost a driving horse, due to a misendearverment when un-hitching the horse and
the shaft end punched into his side. Eventually infection set in.

Thursday, July 03, 2014: The Jacob SCHROK family spent several days in Harwood, MO, with the John YODER family,
the wives are twins, Mary and Martha. Going to Loganville, WI, last Thursday and Friday for a TROYER gathering were
Vernan and Mary; Paul and Emma, Jonas and Aaron; Jonas and Ida Mae, Roseanna LaVern, Marvin and Leona; Reuben and Ada
and 10 children, all TROYERS. Over 200 attended, less than one half of the descendants of Jonas and Katie TROYER.
The Reuben TROYER family traveled on to Mewago, MI, to visit a brother Mahlon over the weekend. And also visited
relatives in northern Indiana. Mrs. Ora HOSCHSTETLER also traveled along to Loganville and visited her two sisters,
Mrs. Paul GRABER and Mrs. Melvin GRABER, Jr. Two little boys (three and four years old), sons of Roman BONTRAGERS of
Bethany are staying with their uncles, the Samuel BONTRAGERS, while their parent are in Mexico. Roy BONTRAGER, Robert
DETWEILER and Eli YODER attended a meeting in Hazelton last Thursday concerning the Obama Care issue.

Eli Rudy, David and Martha, all YODERS. The Jacob SCHROCK family, Mrs. Alvin BONTRAGER and Martha, Mrs. Alvin
BONTRAGER and two little boys. Those leaving for Pirez, MN Thursday morning were Mrs. Edna BONTRAGER and four children,
who went to visit parents and grandparents, also the Marvin MULLETS of Seymour and Joe and Viola MAS of Bloomfield, who
are visiting a daughter, Rosa and Joe MILLER. Leaving for Fertile, MN Friday morning were Jake YODERS of Centerville,
Eli, Lydia, Katie, Emmanuel and Rudy YODER, Lena TROYER and two little boys, parents and siblings of Mrs. Jr. KAUFFMAN.
They are expected home Tuesday evening.

sisters to care and cuddle him. Grandparents are Felty and Barbara MAST of La Plate, MO, paternal grandfather,
Robert DETWEILER of Milton. Albert YODER received the news of a new grandson born to John and Ada BORNTRAGER of
Hale, MI, born July 20, named Timothy. There are several projects on the agenda in the area for this summer.
Samuel BORNTRAGERS is building a shed-summer kitchen. Jacob SCHIVEKS are enclosing the open porch and adding a bedroom
or two. Eli HORCHSTETLER is building a shed on the place he bought from Floyd PLANK with intentions to have
living quarters in one end while they are working on the house. Reuben TROYER wants to redo his barn.

eight boys of Princeton, Joseph and Laverda and two children, Leroy and Mary and three boys, Lavern and Lizzie and
three children, Daniel and Edna and two girls, Jonathon and Magdalena and baby. This was the home of the DETWEILERS
before they moved to Princeton. The three youngest boys of the ALLENS were also along. David, Leon and Lorren. They
searched out the nooks and crannies which held many memories of their growing up years. Wm. MAST (Lewis) was also
along, and returned to his Princeton home with the others.

Going for the State Teachers Meeting in Milton Thursday and Friday were Jacob PLANK, Mary BONTRAGER, Esther MAST, Naomi
and Malinda BEECHY, Rosa and Arie MILLER, Vernon and Mary TROYER. All had spread out in the Bloomfield area for the night.
The MILLER and BEECHY girls were at their grandparents, Joe MASTS, Mary BONTRAGER at a cousin Aaron MAST, Esther MAST,
Vernon and Mary at a daughter/cousin, the Samuel YUTZY's.
~ ~ ~ ~Thursday, August 21, 2014: Born to Alva and Viola BONTRAGER, a daughter, August 13,
named Irene. Their second child although the first one passed away at five days old, so we are all happy for them.
Grandparents are Roy BONTRAGERS and Lester BEECHYS. Saturday the Vernon TROYER family had a family gathering at Herman
MASTS. The children were all present except Ivans and family of CO. Samuel YUTZY family and Wm. YODER family of Bloomfield
and Jr. DETWEILER family were the out-of-town attendees. A total of 79 were present. A short and enjoyable day with
visiting, singing and reminiscing. The young and energetic played volleyball. Mary BONTRAGER spent last week in
Bloomfield in preparation for the up coming school term where she is anticipating to have several classes. John
MASTS and family, Levi and Ruby MAST and Kathryn MAST attended at MAST and BONTRAGER reunion in Augusta, WI last week.

Thursday, August 28, 2014: Samuel BONTRAGERS hosted a BONTRAGER Reunion Saturday,
where many out-of-town folks attended. Those staying for the weekend were Fred BONTRAGERS and Toby SHROCKS of Augusta, WI.
From Hillsboro, WI were Roman STUTZMANS. From Nappannee, IN were Wilbur TROYERS, Jr. BONTRAGERS, Aaron MILLERS and
three boys. Esther BONTAGER and also a son of LaVern YODERS. Special cooks selected for the day were Ora and Florence
HOCHSTETLER, Cora and Dean BONTRAGER, Edna BONTRAGER and girls. The above folks all attended church at Herman MASTS.
Felty MASTS of LaPlatta, MO spent several days with their daughter and family, the Robert DETWEILERS. Two other daughters
also came to spend time with Roberts and their parents, the John YODERS of Harwood, MO and Jerry TROYERS of Richards, MO.
The Albert YODER family, Mary BONTRAGER, Wilma and Arie MILLER, Ellen DETWEILER, attended the SHROCK-YODER wedding in
Windsor, MO last week. Levi and Rosa MILLER, along with Dan and Anna BONTRAGER of Jamesport, were to Authur, ILL to erect
a tombstone on their brother Moses' grave. Jake and Barbara Ellen HERSHBERGER (the writer's brother) of Costa Rica,
made a short visit with Vernon TROYERS Saturday evening. After supper they went to Leon to be with friends. They used to live
in the Leon area in the 60's before they moved to Costa Rica.

August 25, names Abner. Welcomed by four sisters and two brothers. Vernon and Mary TROYER attended the wedding of Lavern
SCHROCK and Ida STUTZMAN in Jamesport August 28. Robert and Ivy DETWEILER went to Indiana and Ohio over the August 31
weekend to attend a reunion and also brought home a load of furniture for the furniture store. Levi and Rosa MILLER,
Robert and Ivy DETWEILER went to Wautona, WI for the funeral of Mrs. Eli (Laura) BYLERS. Eli MILLER attended the
funeral of his brother-in-law, Noah SWARTZ in Bowling Green, MO last week. Wedding invitations are out for the wedding
of Stephen DETWEILER and Rhonda SCHLABACH, both of Princeton, MO. Stephen is a grandson of the writer.

Thursday, October 23, 2014: October 19 ~ Jacob and Mary SCHROCK are still in Children's Hospital with their two and one half-week old
baby, in Kansas City. Roseanna TROYER went to Bloomfield to help her aunt, Leonard and Kathyn MAST, care for their
twin boys. Mrs. Lester BEECHY was also over Saturday to take a peek at the twins and also visit her parents.
October 21 ~ Jacob SCHROCKS three week old baby was released from his two-week hospital stay in Kansas City last Tuesday.
The Jacob PLUNK family attended the funeral of grandpa, Jerry STUTZMAN, in Blair, WI.

Methodist Action Club met Wednesday evening at Sharon WALKUP'S. The members decided to join the Ringgold County Cares

Clearfield, Carolyn SHUPE of Cameron, Linda JACKSON of Mt. Ayr and Janet DARBY of Colorado, were in attendance.
June 22 - The Waubonsie Tractor Club ride was held Saturday with 18 tractors and a few riders participating. They went
down to Allendale for lunch and stopped and toured the Middle Fork church on the way back to Redding. Dan and Kathy
QUICK went to his class of 1969 reunion held Saturday evening at the Country Club in Mount Ayr. The WAUGH family
reunion was held Sunday at the Frontier Hall in Redding. Charles and Becky ABARR were among those attending. The Middle
Fork congregation catered the noon meal. Don't forget the Redding School alumni potluck to be held on Saturday, June 28
at noon at the Redding Frontier Hall. All alumni are cordially invited to attend.

Thursday, August 07, 2014: August 4 - Sympathy is sent to the family of Vera CARSON who passed away on Saturday
morning. Her funeral services will be held at 10:30, Wednesday, August 6, which would have been her 96th birthday. The
services will be at the funeral home in Mount Ayr with burial in the Redding Cemetery. Lunch for family and friends will
be at the Redding UMC following the service. Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. with family present from
6 to 8 p.m. Helen COMBS visited with Iva DETWEILER and family Tuesday and met their new baby boy who was born
on July 20th and has been named Marvin.

suddenly on Wednesday night. His funeral services were held on Saturday in Mount Ayr with burial in the Redding cemetery.

April 7 - Good news for the Tingley meal site. Melynda CRAWFORD has been hired as cook for the site. She will be replacing
Cheryl ROACH, who recently turned in her resignation. Melynda is currently cook at the Mount Ayr site, plus cooking
Monday and Tuesday at Tingley. She will continue cooking at Mount Ayr until they find a replacement. All hope it's

when word was received that Judy POTTORFF had passed away unexpectedly in her home. Judy may have lived in Mount Ayr
now, but she was born and raised in Tingley and still had many ties and friends here. Services will be held Tuesday at the funeral home
in Mount Ayr with burial to follow at the Tingley cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her family.

Connections Area Agency on Aging, were presented to recognize volunteers who regularly gave time to the mealsite in the

held Saturday at the community building here. This dear couple observed their 67th anniversary. Due to health reasons,
they are moving to an apartment at Adel to be closer to family. For the first time in seven years, all seven of their
children were together. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. All wish the best to this dear couple.

and Dorothy BURGHER. News we were sorry to hear was the reason for their return. They're putting their home at
Kellerton on the market and are going to make their home in Utha [Utah?] with their son, Donald. They will be closer
to all their children then. We sure hate to have them move but understand their reason. Our community was sorry to
receive word that another one of our long-time Tingley residents, Georgia Etta KINNE, had passed away Friday at
Health Care Center in Mount Ayr, where she currently resided. If any one individual is responsible for Tingley getting
a mealsite, it would be this lady. She really went out on a limb to get it. This dear lady and friend is the one, who also
talked me into applying for the manager's job years ago and here I am 40 plus years later.

The Women of Wishard (WOW) group met Sunday afternoon at the home of Carol Ann WEEDA. Attending were Barbie BELZER,
Jackie STEWARD, Jenifer BYRD, Nancy DYKSTRA, Connie RICHARDS and Carol Ann WEEDA. Connie gave a lesson on stress.
Last-minute plans were made for the fish fry to be held this Friday. The group talked about future local mission
projects. Serving starts at 5 p.m. for Wishard Chapel's fish fry this Friday, which will be held at the Southwest
Iowa REC building in Mount Ayr. The menu will consist of deep-fried Alaskan pollock filets, baked potatoes, cole
slaw, baked beans, homemade rolls and bread and desserts. ~ ~ ~ ~Thursday, April 24, 2014:April 21 - A total of 90+ attended Easter Sunday
services at Wishard Chapel Community Church Sunday. Pastor Bill Armstrong had an inspiring message. The altar was adorned
with 15 Easter lilies donated by families in memory of those who have passed. First Things First -- Carol Anne McCREARY, Barbie
BELZER, Grace WARIN and Jodie WURSTER -- sang a beautiful song, "Don't Fear Tomorrow, God's Already There." Wishard Chapel is saddened
over losing one of its longtime members, Arlene BURDETTE. Services were held Tuesday at Watson-Armstrong Funeral
Home. Burial was in Waterloo. Prayers go out to Jim and his family in this saddened time. ~ ~ ~ ~
Thursday, May 22, 2014: May 18 - Former Pastor Tom RUTAN is at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX this week for treatment.
Chemo seems to be shrinking the cancer in his esophagus, liver and stomach. Prayers are still needed for his fight with
this cancer. Norm JENNING'S granddaughter, Amber HILL, underwent surgery in California and still needs prayers to fight
infection.

Thursday, June 05, 2014: Some good news for Tom RUTAN. His cancer has been slowed with chemo. He will continue the
chemo for three more treatments, then take a break so he doesn't build up an immunity to it. He still asks for prayers.

Thursday, June 19, 2014: June 16 - Fathers were honored this week during the worship at Wishard Chapel Community Church,
from the Message, "Dad's Waiting at Home" to the scripture from Luke 15:17-24. 75 people attended the service. Praise
team was Cindy STEPHENS, Carol Ann McCREARY, Barbie BELZER and Lacey WEEDA. Barbie and Carol Anne sang an old Dottie
Rambo song, "Remind Me Dear Lord." The women of Wishard will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Carol Anne McCREARY on Sunday
evening, June 22. They will be planning the bake sale that will be in the courthouse lobby on July 3. Bring food to the
courthouse by 7:30 a.m. Wishard Chapel will once again have a booth at the County Fair. We will be making salvation bracelets
with the kids and handing out tracts. Vacation Bible School at Wishard will start July 14 and run through July 18. This
year's program is for ages 3-12th grades. On July 20, church will be outside at the lake, followed by a potluck
picnic. Anyone wanting to be baptized, let Pastor Bill know and he will meet with you. Baptisms will be held after lunch.
Visiting Wishard Chapel on Sunday was the former Rebecca LONG. She was visiting Charles and Helen LONG and helping
Shorty SWANSON celebrate his 90th birthday. Rebecca lives in Des Moines. ~ ~ ~ ~

Thursday, September 04, 2014: September 1 - Seventy-four were in attendance on August
31 to hear Pastor Bill's conclusion of the sermon series: "Great Invitations of the Bible." His last sermon title
was "The Invitation of Conversion" with the scripture taken from Revelation 22:17. It was a very timely and inspirational message.
A card shower is being planned for Marie KENDALL on her 80th birthday. Marie is thte wife of Reverend Jack

Thursday, October 23, 2014: October 21 ~ Sunday evening several people from Wishard enjoyed a hay ride and weiner roast
on the Richards Ranch. Several of the kids went fishing in the pond, played hide and seek in the woods, and watched the wild horses.
The rest sat around a bonfire and ate hot dogs, and made smores, and sang campfire songs. Everyone had a wonderful time!

Thursday, November 27, 2014: November 25 ~ Jim and Carol Anne, Ed and Tina McCREARY attended the wedding reception of
Michael and Brittany BAKER at the Pavilion on Saturday night. The BAKERS were married in Clinton, MO last weekend and
then had a reception here for those who could not travel. An early Thanksgiving dinner was held on Sunday at the
Country Club for the FERGUSON and WEEDA cousins. Fifty-two were in attendance to enjoy the wonderful feast.
