Retirement of a former United Methodist Church minister in Mount Ayr has been announced. Rev. Jerrold W. SWINTON of
Waterloo is retiring from the ministry after 41 years of professional ministry. Before being named district
superintendent, SWINTON served congregations in Mount Ayr as well as Millersburg, South English, Caledonia, Wapello,
Tipton and Albia.
Ringgold County Fair, 2011
One of the new entertainmentevents at the Ringgold County Fair this year was the mud run held Sunday afternoon.
Queen and her court for the Ringgold County Fair included the 2001 fair queen Abby STEPHENS, daughter of John and Karleen STEPHENS
of Diagonal, first runner-up Sheryl DOLECHECK, daughter of Allan and Naomi DOLECHECK of Kellerton, and second runner-up
April PERRIGO, daughter of Roland and Fran JACKSON of Mount Ayr. Crowned princess of the Ringgold County Fair
Thursday night was Madison HOSFIELD, daughter of Randy and Stephanie Hosfield of Diagonal.
Michelle DUGAN showed the grand champion commercial heifer at the Ringgold County Fair. Courtney WEEDA
showed the grand champion commercial ewe. Sheryl DOLECHECK showed the grand champion commercial gilt at the fair. The
grand champion market sheep was shown by Matthew WEEDA and the grand champion halter horse was shown by Jordan STEWART.
STEWART won several horse titles with his horse, IM Chief Wildfire.
Jessica RICHARDSON showed the grand champion other
poultry production winner in the poultry show. Showing the outstanding pet at the Ringgold County Fair this year
was Jennifer HOSFIELD with her pet fish. The Autumn in the Ayr booth set up by the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce was
judged the top both in the commercial building during the Ringgold County Fair.
