The process of purchasing the former Roe Implement Co. building by the Ruan Companies for a new industrial plan in
Mount Ayr was completed this week, company officials have announced.
Kenneth TRIGGS of Mount Ayr has been nominated to received the American Farmer Degree, highest degree presented
by the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization.
A car stolen in Creston was recovered by the Ringgold County Sheriff's department south of the north junction of
Highways 2 and 25 October 6. The 1966 Ford was reported stolen in Creston the night before. The car was towed to
HARVEY Brothers Garage in Mount Ayr, where the owner picked it up the next morning, according to sheriff's department
officials.
Postal employees of the Diagonal post office honored LaVerne KLEJCH, retiring mail carrier, and members of his family
at a dinner held at Berning Cafe in Creston on Thursday evening. LaVerne is retiring after 24 years of faithful service.
He started out as a substitute carrier for Dean RISSER on Route 2 in 1959. After Dean's death in February, 1975, he became
the carrier for that route. Robert GRAHAM, who has been LaVerne's substitute will be his replacement.
Jim Llewellyn of Mount Ayr was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Southwest Iowa Sheltered Workshop,
Inc., a the workshop's annual meeting held in Creston. LLEWELLYN was honored for his help to the local sheltered
workshop center.
Pastor Tom ALBRECHT has a busy Sunday on his last Sunday in the First Lutheran Church, baptizing or confirming seven people
from the Diagonal area all on the same day. Pastor ALBRECHT has since moved from the First Lutheran Church in Mount Ayr
to a church in Farnhamville.
