A benefit for Kay ALLEN, of Tingley, will be held Sunday, August 27 at the Tingley community building and park. The
money collected will go to help Kay ALLEN'S family pay hospital bills as she awaits a lung transplant. The entertainment
will include a barbeque, an auction, state coach rides and musical entertainment by the group "White Diamonds and Gold"
which consists of Vicki LYNN and Lora "Wendy" JARRED. Walk-on musical performances are also welcome.
Three couples in Mount Ayr will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The first is Calvin and Fern GREGG
who will be holding an open house in honor of the occasion. It will be held at Rideta Electric Cooperative on Sunday,
August 20 in Mount Ayr. The couple was married in Troy, KS in (sic) August 25, 1945. Together, they opperated (sic) a
farm until 1978 when they moved to Mount Ayr. Five years later, Calvin became a pastor at Kellerton Assembly of God
until 1994 when he retired. Calvin and Fern are the proud parents of seven sons and two daughters and grandparents
of 23 grandchildren.
The second couple to be celebrating their golden anniversary is Melvin and Kathryn ADAMS. The reception will be
held at the Mount Ayr American Legion Hall on Saturday, August 19.
The third couple who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary is Harry and Ruth HALEY of Afton. The reception will be
hosted by their children an their families from 3 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, September 2. Mr. and Mrs. HALEY are the
parents of 13 children: Janet KESTERSON, Judith HENSLEY, Jerry HALEY, Jim HALEY, Joyce KING, Janice GAETA, Jeffrey HALEY,
Jean MOFFITT, Joe HALEY, J.B. HALEY, Jack HALEY and Janelle SCHAFFER.
