H. C. Baughman, of our city meat market, has just completed a 300-ton capacity ice house on his land east of town. Heretofore, there has been almost a famine for ice in the later part of the summer months.
Lucy Kidney is employed in the Rexall Store during the holiday rush.
Mr. and Mrs. Z. T. Kinsell left Thursday for San Jose, CA where they will make their home and where Mr.Kinsell will engage in the plumbing business with his son, Harry.
Rev. G. E. Carnahan, of the United Presbyterian Presbytery of Concordia, KS, has accepted a hearty call from the congregation of the United Presbyterian Church in Shannon City, and has moved to the field. The College Springs Presbytery will soon arrange for his installation.
HIGH SCHOOL NOTES - The biggest feature of the Montrose Literary Society's program was the show given by Norman Barnes, Raymond Bretz and Richard Johnston. The program included the following: Piano solo, Ruth Flynn; mixed quartet - Reba Roberts, Nellie Chance, Everett Galloway and Wayne Hickerson; reading, Frankie Main; and violin duet, Helen Spurrier and Elenora Studer.
POE - The pupils of No. 7 Poe [Pleasant Hill School], and their teacher, Mrs. Edith W. Link, gave a program and box supper Wednesday evening, from which the school cleared $15.75. Prizes were awarded to Alpha Pray for guessing the nearest number of grains of popcorn in a glass bottle and having the prettiest box; to Carol Tullis for being the most popular young lady present and Sam Snellgrove for being the laziest man in attendance. Albert Stephens was the auctioneer.

DIAGONAL - Born, December 2, to Mr. and Mrs. Jay Price, a baby girl.
SHADY GROVE - A fine little daughter came to gladden the home of Mr. and Mrs.Henry Casady on November 29.
