Mount Ayr Community high school's Raider jazz band took part in two contests this past week. Thursday the band placed third in class 2A at the Simpson Jazz Festival in Indianola and Saturday the band received a division I rating at the state jazz band festival in Griswold.

Plans are once again underway for the annual Daffodil Days, sponsored by the Ringgold county unit of the American Cancer Society.

Katie Amik was crowned queen and Jason Wortman was crowned king when the Diagonal Community high school homecoming was held Friday.

Born, a girl, to Brad and Alisa Melvin, East Berlin PA.
