The 90th annual OVERHOLTZER reunion was held on August 4, 2013 at the Community Building in Tingley, Iowa. It was quiet a celebration for the 90th reunion. It all started in 1924 when the first reunion held at the home of John E. OVERHOLTZER in Tingley and here we are today still gathering every year.

Most everyone attending had purchased a bright orange t-shirt commemorating the 90th reunion. Before the meal started we gathered for a group picture with our orange OVERHOLTZER shirts on.

The Reverend Jack KENDALL gave the blessing prior to the meal. Once again, the food tables overflowed with the famous OVERHOLTZER potluck dinner. It appeared as though there was more food than ever before followed by many desserts and of course several freezers of ice cream.

After everyone had done ample justice to the bountiful dinner a short business meeting was held beginning with family introductions. This was followed by the reading of teh minutes of the 2012 reunion, then the treasurers report. Joyce SCOTT graciously volunteered her family to be the hosts of the 91st OVERHOLTZER reunion.

We were then entertained by the SCOTT Family Theatrical Troupe from Scottsville/Bolivar, Missouri. They gave the operatic performance of, "THE SOUP OPERA" during which we were surprised by a cameo appearance of the President and First Lady.

Then there was a rousing gospel song performed by the SCOTT Girl's Gospel Quartet featuring Vickie SOWERS, Debbie JENKINS, Lisa COWDEN and Becky BOLIN. Also, young Chyler WELCH beautifully sang "Amazing Grace" to the gathering. This brought a close to the meeting and then the kids, and several adults, retired outside for an afternoon of games and fun.

Marriages reported were Scott SOWERS and Hye Khong KIM (HK) married on October 1, 2011. Scott is the son of Terry and Vicki SOWERS.

Rich and Crystal JOHNSON married on July 9, 2010. Rich is the son of Cleone HOSFIELD.

Sarah KENDALL and Michael GILL were married on April 12, 2013. Sarah is the daughter of Dennis and Diana KENDALL. Dennis is the son of Jack and Marie KENDALL.

Shayna GREENE and Robbie MASON were married March 17, 2011. Shayna is the daghter of Mack and Jeanine GREENE and the granddaughter of Cleone HOSFIELD.

Births reported were Rowan Lee born July 2, 2013 to Tyler and Cassaundra CHERINGTON of Fort Hood, TX. Tyler is the son of Ron and karen CHERINGTON. Ron is the son of Jeanne and Al CHERINGTON.

Ian James RUMFELT was bornon July 8, 2013. Ian is the grandson of Steve and Kathy SCOTT.

Kaydence Elizabeth MASOn was born February 7, 2013 to Shayna and Robbie MASON.

Deaths reported were Don OVERHOLTZER and Carolyn LUCE DeLONG.
