OVERHOLTZER FAMILY REUNION
The 87th OVERHOLTZER reunion was held at the Tingley community building on August 1, 2010. Hosts and hostesses were Joyce
SCOTT and her family of Bolivar, MO. Tim SCOTT returned thanks to the Lord and 67 relatives and guests enjoyed the famous
OVERHOLTZER potluck feast. Following the meal, Joyce SCOTT and her family provided entertainment for all in attendance. David and Steve
SCOTT performed the Hee Haw skit, That's Good! No, That's Bad!. Tim SCOTT then hissed in the pit while telling the story of
Petey the Snake. Joyce SCOTT'S daughters, Vicki, Debbie, Becky and Lisa, sang a beautiful song entitled, What a Lovely Name.
Marie and Jack KENDALL gave a presentation with pictures about Marie's family, the "Fairview OVERHOLTZERS." Gerald LUCE
explained his mountain dulcimer and then played Amazing Grace and I'll Fly Away. John F. OVERHOLTZER reported
to those assembled about the death of Grace OVERHOLTZER MILLIGAN. She was 106-years-old at the time of her passing. Grace was
the author of the book of the OVERHOLTZER descendants, Christian OVERHOLTZER and His Father Jacob. Six extra copies
of this book were found after her death and were offered to those who were interested. Beverly POORE reported on the
listing of Christian M. OVERHOLTZER'S descendants at the Iowa Genealogical Society. She had several pictures showing the
listing. These pictures will be entered into the OVERHOLTZER reunion records. Letters were passed around to be read and to
be acknowledged from Richard and Joan OVERHOLTZER of San Jose, CA, and Donna HUDSON and Donna HEYER. The minutes were
read from last year's reunion and the treasurer's report was given. A hat was passed to acquire funds to help pay for next
year's reunion. Many door prizes were given. Jack and Marie KENDALL received the longest marriage prize - 57 years of
Brad JOHNSON and Liz SOWERS had the closest birthdays to the reunion. A door prize was given to the person who was responsible
for the youngest OVERHOLTZER relative. That prize was awarded to Annie JOHNSON SCHWEITZBERGER, granddaughter of
Cleone OVERHOLTZER HOSFIELD. There were a few births, deaths and marriages. Birth reported were Emery SCHWEITZBERGER,
Anthony James HARTSHORN and Drew GRAHAM. Deaths reported were Grace OVERHOLTZER MILLIGAN and O'Neal SCOTT. Rich and
Chrystal JOHNSON'S marriage was the only one reported. David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER and their family will host next
year's reunion. It will be held at Tingley community building on August 7, 2011. These were the relatives and guests
