BACK ROW, left to right: Glenn, Lois, Clyde
MIDDLE ROW, left to right: Edna, Samuel K., Ervena, Oscar
FRONT ROW, left to right: Maude, Frances McKEE

Samuel K. McKEE was born July 21, 1861. He married Ervena Lee FELTCH in 1896, Page County, Iowa. Ervena was born on May 28, 1875. Samuel farmed near Braddyville, Iowa and Ervena taught school. The McKEES moved onto a farm located 3 1/4 miles south of Tingley in 1891. In 1911, they moved to a farm five miles west of Tingley where they built a new house and raised the youngest of their children. Samuel and Ervena were the parents of seven children: Oscar, Edna, Clyde, Glenn, Lois, Frances and Maude.

Clyde and Glenn, known locally as the McKEE brothers, remained at home and farmed with their father. Clyde became critically ill which baffled the doctors. Dr. KILLINGSWORTH of Clarinda diagonsed the illness as hydrophobia, brought about from a bite by the neighbor's dog. It was a miracle that Clyde survived. He was left with very poor eyesight after his recovery.

In the spring of 1937, the McKEES moved to another farm near Tingley. Ervena died September 29, 1944. Samuel died June 18, 1947.

Ervena and Samuel were interred at the Tingley Cemetery.

Oscar died in 1974 while residing in Mount Ayr. His widow Mary moved to Fremont, Nebraska. They were the parents of three children.

Walter "Clyde" McKEE, born in 1901, died in 1948 and was interred at Tingley Cemetery.

Lois, born in 1904, married Lavern BRADEN March 4, 1935. She died in November of 1975, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Lois died in 1975. Lavern was born in 1902 and died in 1968. They were interred in Tingley Cemetery.

In 1976 Glenn's car was swept off the roadway by high water. He clung to tree branches for several hours before his neighbor David HILL discovered his overturned car and called for help. Glenn was rescued. In his last years, Glenn resided in Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr. Glenn died in 1984 and was interred at Tingley Cemetery.

Edna married Andrew LORIMOR of Waukee.

Frances B. McKEE, born August 26, 1909, married in 1977 Wayne A. OVERHOLTZER (1904-1997) of Tingley. Frances was Wayne's second wife. She died November 3, 1992, and was interred at Tingley Cemetery.

Maude married Floy DRAKE of Mount Ayr, Iowa.
