Gregg, I looked at the Hamilton county death certificates for March through June 1911 page by page. His was not there. In fact there were none for the Williams area. It was almost as if the doctor there did not file the paperwork. I can't believe that it was filed past 90 days. Not in the indices either.
Naturalization records probably won't be of help since the actual birthplace usually was not listed before 1905.
Possible Chaplinski surname variations are: Czapliński, Chaplinsky, Czaplinski, Czaplinsky, Czapalinska
Simon may also be spelled Szymon in European records.
I would suggest contacting the Catholic churches in Williams and in Clarion or other locations for their children. When the children married in the church, they probably recorded the name and place of the church where they were baptized.
Since Pauline's obituary stated that they spent a few years in the Chicago area, before coming to Iowa, perhaps check out potential relatives. Here is one possibility:
Name: Joseph Ignatz Czapalinska
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 2 Feb 1840
Baptism Place: Prangenau, Westpreußen, Preußen, Germany
Father: Carl Czapalinska
Mother: Anna Laskowska*****
Joseph Chaplinski
1840 -- 1907
Burial:
Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee, Illinois
