In reply to your inquiry regarding my father’s service as a soldier in the Civil War, will say that I cannot give you all the information that you are asking for, however I shall be only too glad to help you all I can to get the records straightened out. My oldest brother whose name is E.A. Jenner and whose address is West Davis St, Fayette, Missouri might be able to give you the information that you desire, as he has our father’s discharge papers. I can very easily understand why the name seems so confusing as my father was born in Germany and while he was in the service his name was spelled Yenner, instead of Jenner, and after the close of the war my father wanted to become a citizen of this country so he became naturalized and his name was changed from Yenner (which was the German pronunciation of the name) to Jenner (which is the English pronunciation of the name).

Miss Noll as I look over the questionnaire I could answer most of those questions, however in anything like this you want facts. So I will mail the letter which you wrote me together with the questionnaire, down to my brother, E.A. Jenner, Fayette, Missouri, and I think he can give you the desired information. I will say in closing that I come to Des Moines every week and if my brother can’t help you I will be only too glad to have a personal interview with you. All you will have to do is just drop me a line and I will call on you.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenner celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary Monday at their home 8 miles south of Indianola. Open house for relatives was held from 2 to 5 p.m.. Mr. and Mrs. Jenner first met while Mrs. Jenner, the former Elizabeth Hadley, was teaching school in the county. The marriage took place in the Hadley home in Greenfield Township. Frank recalls that there was about eight inches of snow on the ground on that day 50 years ago, but he had a good driving team and sleigh and drove across the country a distance of 56 miles.

Six Children – Mr. and Mrs. Jenner have six children, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. J.V. Christianson (Berneice) of Low Moore, Mrs. Don Noble (Lillina) of Indianola, Oscar at home with his parents, Keith of Newell, Mrs. G.H. Richards (Martha) of Decatur, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, and Mrs. A.C. Knipers of Grandville, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids. All were present Monday with the exception of Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Knipers. Also present was Mrs. Jenner’s sister, Mrs. Herman Craig of Kansas City, Missouri.

“Fifty years seems like a long time to look forward to, but it’s a very short time to look back on, “Mr. Jenner remarked. “Time really goes fast when parents are rearing and guiding a family of six children in an effort to make good, honest American citizens out of them,” he added. The home now occupied by the Jenners has been in the Jenner name for 79 years, and Mr. Jenner was born on the place 77 years ago. The Jenners have lived all of their married life in Warren County with the exception of two years in South Dakota and a year in Clarke County.
