Hi! I have been searching for my relatives in USA and in particular my great grandfathers sister Pauline Ofstad destiny.
When i saw Tim Dupy's splendid work on the Dupy family i was uplifted!!!
I have been working with my family history for 25 years and it has been an adventorius travel. My great grandfather Odin Erasmin Ofstad had many siblings. Pauline Ofstad was his oldest sister she was born in Trondheim, Norway 24 dec 1814. She was married with Pedro Vidal in Kristiansund in Norway in 1847. I belive they were the parents of Lia Maria Vidal whose married Lafayette Dupy.
According to the heavily damage church books of Kristiansund Pauline and Pedro emigrated from Norway in 1858 with their kids. But because of the firedamage of the churchbook it was impossible to figure out were they emigrated to. But when Pauline's mother died in the tiny town Røros in the middle of Norway a record of her remains solved that riddle. From this source in the year 1878 it was mentioned by Birgitte, Pauline youngest sister that Pauline Ofstad was a widow in Iowa. Her deceast husband was farmer Pedro Vidal.Any information of the Dupy family history would be of deep interest. And if the book of the Dupy family exsist anywhere it would be great to know.
With friendly regards
