More info found:
On March 7, 1873, Mr. Byerly married Susie M. Johnson, who was born in Lenawee county, Michigan, June 21, 1848, and was brought to Jones county by her parents in 1856, having since made it her home. She is a daughter of James and Maria (Whaley) Johnson, natives of England, who came to America after their marriage in 1838, and located in Michigan. The father's death occurred in Crawford county, Iowa, and the mother's in Clinton county, same state.
The 1860 census for Wyoming Twp shows James Johnson age 50 (c.1810) and wife Maria A. age 49 (c.1811) both England, children James "James Richard" Jr. (24 MI); Jeremiah W. (21 MI); John (17 MI); Hannah E. (22 MI); Caroline "Caroline Matilda" (14 IN); Susanna (10 MI); Maria (6 MI); Harriet (4 MI).
Shows James and Maria Married: DEC 3, 1834 in Coverham with Horsehouse, Yorkshire. They settled in Sand Lake, Lenawee County, Michigan around 1835.
In the 1880 census, James and wife second wife Mary (born c.1821 IL) were in Calamus, Clinton Co., IA. May want to start looking their for their deaths.
