Looking at the 1910 census, John T. Johnson was living with John W. Byerly and wife Susan M. at Jackson Twp., Jones County. Says John was widowed, born in Michigan as was Susan, and he is 68 years old (born c.1842).

In the 1900 census he is living in Clay Twp., Jones Co. Says he was born June 1841 in Michigan and wife (then living) Matilda, born October 1844 in Iowa. Says her parents were born in Pennsylvania and his in England.

Shows John and Matilda married 28 years and have only 1 child (Nina B.) and they were living with her brother Bernhard Streeper who was born December 1860 in Iowa (biography on this site for him).

So... Matilda died between 1900-1910 and looks like he died between 1910-1920.

John and Matilda also married Feb 8, 1872 in Clay twp. One Rootsweb database says her actual name is Hannah Matilda Streeper.

Not having much luck yet on John's family but will keep plugging and hope some of the above will give leads... maybe death indexes or obits for them in Jones County?
