Funeral services were held Monday, December 23, for Mrs. Minnie Arnold, 91, who died on December 21, at Delaware Memorial hospital in Manchester following a long illness.
Born November 11, 1866, near Scales Mound, Ill. she was the daughter of Edward and Grace (Jewell) Hancock. On February 21, 1884, she was united in marriage with M. G. Arnold at Shullsburg, Wis., and they came to the Strawberry Point area where she has resided the past 74 years. They farmed north of Strawberry Point until their retirement to Strawberry Point a number of years ago. Her husband died in 1953.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two children, an infant son, Henry Edward, and a daughter, Lillian Thomas. She is survived by three children, Ray A. of Highland, Ind; William H. Arnold of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Art (Eva) Huebsch, also of Strawberry Point. Three sisters and two brothers also survive, they are; Mrs. Nettie Smart, Scales Mound, Ill. Ada Swanson, Shullsburg, Wis.; and May Spencer, Madison, Wis.; William T. Hancock of Shullsburg, Wis., and Howard J. Hancock of Normal, Ill. There are also seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held in the Methodist church in Strawberry Point at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Smith the officiating clergyman. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
