Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 19, 1957, at the Norway Lutheran church, for Mrs. Bertha Embretson with the Rev. Bruce Boyce officiating. Burial was in the Norway cemetery.
Bertha Embretson, daughter of John and Agneta Larson, was born on a farm near St. Olaf, Jan. 31, 1869, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aden Embretson, Billings, Montana, Dec. 15, 1957, lacking seven weeks of being 89 years old. Death was caused by complications resulting from a fractured hip.
All her life was spent in and around St. Olaf, with the exception of the last four years.
She was a member of Norway congregation, being baptized and confirmed there and was a member of the Ladies Aid for over 60 years.
On Oct. 19, 1895, she was united in marriage to Knute O. Embretson, also of St. Olaf. They made their home on a farm a few miles northwest of town, until they retired to St. Olaf in 1912, where they built the present home.
Mrs. Embretson was preceded in death by her husband in 1931, her parents and five brothers, Lewis, Joseph, Oliver, William and Edwin, the latter dying in infancy; also two sisters, Mary Peterson and Alice Hegeson.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Aden Embretson, and one granddaughter, Cynthia, of Billings, Montana; two brothers, Perry Larson, St. Paul, Minn., and Lawrence Larson, Plummer, Idaho, besides many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were her daughter, Mrs. Aden Embretson, Billings, Montana, and brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Larson, St. Paul, Minn.
