Posted a complete Directory of the Oak Lawn cemetery
burials provided by Darlene Hall.
Updated the Howard County Obituary Index

Posted Board transcriptions for all of the newspaper articles listed in the Index of
the Special Events Published in the Iowa Plain Dealer during
1877 and 1878
along with links from the 1877 and 1878 indices to the IaGenWeb board postings of the indexed newspaper articles.
October 2013
Consolidated the Howard County Obituary Index
to eliminate 46 duplicate obits.
Completed the 10 month long update of the Sites look and feel.
This new look and feel consists mainly of four items.
- The same background for all pages
- Site wide use of the left column for navigation.
- Scrolling of all right column Tables to provide continuous access to the navigation panel.
- Optional right column printing for PC's and viewing for browsers that do not
support the right column Scrolling.

Section. These new pages list all of the death Notices for Howard County for the years of 1918-1923 and 1933-1936
Updated the Recent
obituaries index to include 40 new obits posted since September 1, 2013.

Updated the Recent
obituaries index to include 78 new obits posted since May 19, 2013.
Updated all of the cemetery tales to link to transcribed obits rather than to scanned obits.
This completes the upgrade from a mixture of transcribed and scanned obits to all transcribed obits.
This update also includes new links to all of the cemetery tables to improve the navigation between the various cemetery tables.

Revised the general appearance of the Howard County Pages and modified the
site navigation scheme to allow greater flexibility during future site expansion.
Posted a transcription of the Iowa Plain Dealer Index of
all the Special Events Published in the Iowa Plain Dealer during 1894.
Added over 300 new Howard Township cemetery GPP records and transcribed all
of the readable data from the gravestones in the Howard Center Township Cemetery. The over 300 new GPP records were created as part of the 100% photo survey
by Janice Sowers of the Howard Center Township cemetery in 2011. The Howard Center Township cemetery table now documents 250 graves.
All of the new and old Howard Township GPP comment fields now contain robust gravestone
transcriptions. Janice has also supplied
146 obits of people buried in the Howard Center Township cemetery. All of these obits and GPP Records are
now linked to this new Howard Township cemetery table.
Paul Maruska has volunteered to do lookups in the History of Alta Vista, Iowa,
"The Friendly Town," 1894-1994.
Created a new combined Howard County Obituary Index.
This combined index has links to 1086 Howard County Obituaries, 850 in the IAGenWeb Board and 236 from the local Howard County database.
About 400 of these obits are scans, volunteers are needed to transcribe these scans. If you want to volunteer,
please contact the County Coordinator.
