Wayne Willits

Services for Wayne Willits, 60, rural Farmington, were held Saturday, August 31, 1991 at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington with Reverend Jack Williams officiating. He had been ill about 1/2 years.

Mr. Willits died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, August 29 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He had been ill about 1 1/2 years.

He was born February 13, 1931 at Bonaparte. He had lived in rural Farmington for 20 years. He farmed and was a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion.

On December 18, 1959 at Kahoka, Missouri, he married Audry Batten, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Mary Ward Willits, Bonaparte; two sons, Robert of Rockton, Illinois and David of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Sherri) Rider, Farmington; two sisters, Mary Harward, Santa Maria, California and Mrs. Gary (Cleda) Thomas, Bonaparte; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Willits.

A memorial has been established for the purchase of chairs for the cancer unit at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
