Samuel K. Stevens

Samuel K. Stevens, 74, of Hillsboro, died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 1990 at the Henry County Health Center.

Born August 1, 1915 in Bloomington, Indiana, he was the son of Tilden and Dottie Baxter Stephens. He married Nina Spearman May 25, 1940 in Kahoka, Missouri.

He had been a farmer in the Winfield and Hillsboro communities before he retired.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Marlene (Gary) Carter, Mt. Pleasant; six sons, Kenneth Stevens, Mt. Pleasant, Dennis Stevens, Brighton, Jon Stevens, Larry Stevens and Tony Stevens, all of Hillsboro, and James Stevens, Lockridge; one brother, Richard Stephens, Bloomington, Indiana; two sisters, Maude Prince and Ruby Stephens, both of Bloomington, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The service for Mr. Stevens was held Monday, June 4, 1990 at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant with the Reverend Ed Newman officiating. Burial was in the Wifield-Scott Township Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Hillsboro City Park.
