Mrs. Anna Ruth (Willaby) Huffman, 76, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Henry County, died at 8 a.m. Monday, February 5, 1990, in Long Beach.
Born Oct. 16, 1913, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Albert and Viva Mason Stonehouse. In 1931 in Kahoka, Mo., she married Floyd McCarty. He preceded her in death. In 1961 at Long Beach, Calif., she married Willaby Huffman. He also preceded her in death.
She worked at the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant and helped her husband on the family farm. After moving to California she was an aide at the Damingus Valley Hospital in Long Beach for 11 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are four sons, Donald McCarty of Salem, Melvin mcCarty of Hobbs, N.M., Kenneth McCarty of Lockridge, and Michael McCarty of Norwalk, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth (Jesse) Strickland of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Louis (Harry) Roe of Paramount, Calif., Carolyn Christie of Bellflower, Calif., and Virginia Savage of Albia; one brother, Herbert Stonehouse Sr. of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Roberta Cox of Keosauqua and Mary Smith of Cedar Rapids; 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The service for Mrs. Huffman was held Saturday, Feb. 10, 1990 at the Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Dr. Virgil Fry of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Foundation.
