Ruth Elizabeth Aylor Crawford, daughter of Mark and Anna Dowell Aylor, was born July 7, 1913 in Keosauqua and died early Tuesday, January 9, 1990 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 76.
She graduated from Keosauqua High School with the Class of 1931.
On August 14, 1943 she married Roy Crawford of Stockport in Fairfield. They owned and operated the Stockport Grain Elevator from 1947 until Roy's death, January 1, 1958.
Ruth was a social worker with the Van Buren County Department of Social Welfare for many years, worked in the Van Buren County Office of Price Administration during World War II, and from 1976-1983 worked at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua.
She was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Jack Aylor, Alhambra, CA, and Joseph Aylor and his wife Dorothy, Keosauqua, three sisters, Saxon Roush and her husband, Sam, Keosauqua, and Helen Cochran and her husband, Robert, Mt. Sterling and Florence Gordy and her husband, Russell, Mt. Sterling, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11, 1990 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Stockport Public Library.
