John Nicholas Hemping, son of John and Mary Louie Hemping, was born July 19, 1888 in Frontier county, Nebraska and passed away June 20, 1942 at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 1 day. He was united in marriage April 24, 1910 to Miss Pearl Winfrey at El Dorado Springs, Mo. To this union was born one daughter and four sons, Josephine Musser of Ames, Edgar, Harry and Gordon of Colo, and Max, in the United States Navy. He lived in the Dalton community for eight years, after which he and his family moved to the Dakotas where they lived for twelve years, then returning to Colo, where he spent the remainder of his life. He had been in poor health for a number of years, failing rapidly in the last few months; he grew weaker and weaker and finally tired of this life's journey, he passed on Saturday evening at 10:45.
He leaves his wife, four sons and one daughter, two brothers, Eugene of Colo, Harry of Omaha, and one sister, Mrs. Herbert White of Colo. He also leaves four grandchildren, other relative and a host of friends.
About thirty-four years ago he obeyed his God, accepting Christ as his Savior. Death held no terror for him. He was ready to go.
