Dr. Charlesworth Of Roland Dies; Funeral on Saturday
Roland, June 25--Dr. S. J. Charlsworth [sic], 54, for 38 years a practicing veterinarian here, died at Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Wednesday, after a lingering illness from pneumonia and other complications.
Funeral rites are announced for Saturday, with prayer service at the home at 1:30, followed by the funeral at Salem Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, with his pastor, Rev. Olaf Holen, in charge. Burial will be in the Roland cemetery.
The deceased was a native of Fort Plains, N. Y., where he was born October 6, 1886, a son of the late John and Alesta Charlsworth [sic]. He received his preliminary education in the schools of Fort Plains and later attended and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was married to Minnie Marsh on March 10, 1907, and to this union one child was born, now Edith Twedt of Webster City.
They came to Roland in March, 1914 and this has been their home continuously since.
Besides his wife, their daughter, Edith, and grandsons, Stanton Gene, and Terry Twedt, he leaves a sister, Mrs. J. H. Leneker of Canastata, N. Y.
Mr. Charlsworth [sic] had during his long residence here, formed a wide acquaintance of the people in the community and was held in the very highest of esteem by those who knew him.
He was a man warmly devoted to his home and family and he will be deeply mourned not only by members of his family, but among his wide circle of acquaintances.
Active in public and civil affairs of all kinds he was a valuable citizen.
