OBITUARY - V. A. "PETE" WOOD

Funeral services for V[elmar]. A[drain]. "Pete" WOOD, age 88, of Cascade, Iowa and formerly of Stanwood, Iowa, were held Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa with the Reverend William HANISH officiating. Pallbearers were Gene BROWN, Scott SCHROEDER, Rick GLICK, Greg WAGNER and Todd SCHROEDER.

Burial was in the Stanwood Cemetery, Stanwood.

Mr. WOOD died November 3, 2002 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines from heart failure.

The son of Edward C. and Anna Louise THOMPSON WOOD, he was born September 29, 1914 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He married Bernice PAUSTAIN in 1937. She died in 1962. He married Mildred ANDERSON in 1964 and she died in 1998.

He is survived by three daughters, Patsy (Harold) GOLDSMITH of Stanwood and Carol (Don) SCHROEDER and Doris COINER, both of Olin, Iowa; a son Dean (Pat) of Anamosa, Iowa; a sister Erma HARRIS of Kellerton, Iowa; a half-brother Ronald WOOD or Martelle, Iowa; many grandchildren ang great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Georgia TONEY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; a brother Berwin WOOD; and a half-sister Alberta BISHOP.
