GUY W. WISDOM DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Guy W[ade]. WISDOM, 68, retired merchant, passed away Monday [November 18, 1935] at the family home on South Pacific street in Oceanside. He had been in ill health for several months, being bedfast all the time.

Mr. WISDOM was one of the community's most popular residents. During his many years in the store that bore his name, he became acquainted with practically every resident of the community and surrounding territory, and was considered a true friend by hundreds of people.

A Civic Leader

Mr. WISDOM played an important part in all lines of civic endeavers and was especially active in the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. WISDOM came to Escondido [CA] from Iowa in 1904, and was engaged in mercantile business there several years before going to Oceanside. He is survived by his wife and three married daughters.

NOTE: Guy Wade WISDOM was born in Ringgold County, Iowa, on October 18, 1867, the son of Pierce Jefferson WISDOM (1842-1925) and Thankful Jane (CARTER) WISDOM (1847-1881, Mount Ayr IA). Guy married in 1891 to Fanny Amelia "Mittie" NELSON (1869-1953), the daughter of James Lewis and Harriett Agnes (CLARK) NELSON. Guy and Mittie were the parents of three daughters: Gaile Lessie (WISDOM) ZIMMERMAN (1893-1982); Eva Marie (WISDOM) FRANKLIN 1895-1975; and Alta Marguerite (WISDOM) BOYER (1902-1980). Guy Wade and Mittie A. WISDOM's cremains were interred at Alcove of Hope, Eternal Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary.
