Alma Irene (Smith) Buchholz, daughter of William H. and Anna (Good) Smith, was born February 25th, 1894, at Conrad, Ia. and passed away on Tuesday night, September 7th, 1937, at Hartley, Ia., being in her 44th year of age.
She resided In Conrad, Ia., attending school there, until 17 years of age, when in 1911, she moved with her parents to Plessis, Ia.
On October 25th, 1912, she was united in marriage to Frank E. Buchholz of Melvin, Ia. After their marriage they located in Melvin, where they have since made their home. To this union two children were born, Wilbur C. of Milford, Ia. and Harry B. of Melvin.
Mrs. Buchholz joined the Methodist church in Conrad, Ia., later transferring her membership to the Melvin church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors Lodge. She took an active interest in the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society connected with the church.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and two sons, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Smith and two brothers, Howard A. Smith of Ocheyedan and Fred O. Smith of Union City, New Jersey.
Mrs. Buchholz has been in rather poor health during the last year or two, but nevertheless her death came as a great shock to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed by her family and her circle of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, in the Methodist Church, Rev. E. Stanworth in charge, and burial was made in Baker cemetery.
