Last rites for Mrs. Roy (Freida) Stephens, 89, were held at West Liberty Dec. 30, 1988 with the Rev. Daryl Torrin officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Stephens died at the Mechanicsville Care center Dec. 25.

The daughter of Frederick and Bertha Erickson Kruse, she was born near West Liberty April 16, 1899. She married Roy Stephens in Muscatine June 30, 1921.

She is survived by 2 brothers, Harold Kruse, Lone Tree and Freddie Kruse, West Liberty; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
