George Denton Ramey, son of Carl Edmond Ramey and Freedette Leola Denton Ramey was born on April 4, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away peacefully at his home in St. Charles, Iowa, on March 4, 2025, at the age of 81.

George was a dedicated and hardworking individual throughout his life. He began his career working for Braniff Airlines in Des Moines, where he remained until the company’s closure nineteen years later. Undeterred by this change, George pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating his own car sales business for many years until he decided to retire. However, his passion for work and service led him to take up employment at the local hardware store in St. Charles, where he continued to contribute to the community until his third retirement.

Beyond his professional endeavors, George held a deep love for spending time with his family, which was always his foremost joy. He had a keen interest in sprint car racing and found great pleasure in traveling, with a particular fondness for journeys out west.

George was preceded in death by his loving parents, Carl Edmond Ramey and Freedette Leola Ramey, his sister, Carleen Roberts, brother-in-law, Jim Roberts, his brother, Richard Ramey, and sister-in-law, Wanda Ramey.

He leaves behind a family who cherished him dearly: his wife, Nancy Ramey of St. Charles, IA; his daughter, Sindy Lou (Tim) Brown of St. Charles, IA; his son, Matt Denton (Stacie) Ramey of Lucas, IA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Melinda (Dale) Zimmerman of Whittemore, IA, Sarah (Darren) Hansen of St. Charles, IA, Tyler (Shital) Ramey of Grain Valley, MO, T.J. (Emily) Hiracheta of Lucas, IA, and Maysa (Bryce) Parish of Lucas, IA; six great-grandchildren, Owen Zimmerman, Olivia Zimmerman, Benjamin Zimmerman, Addison Hansen, Alana Hansen, and Annabelle Hiracheta, with another great-grandchild expected soon. Additionally, George is remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Services to honor George's life will be held at St. Charles Parish on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:30 am, with Pastor Darin Feikema officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Kale Funeral Home.
