Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home
Winterset, Iowa

October 17, 1962 — March 4, 2025

Roger G. Williams, born October 17, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa was sent to his eternal home on March 4, 2025. He passed away at his family farm where he was raised. He was 62 years old.

Roger graduated from Southeast Warren High School, Liberty Center, Iowa in 1981 and was very proud of his hometown team. His family heard many stories of his football days and knew them well since Roger took every opportunity to recite them. Their favorite began, ‘Did I ever tell you about the time I played football with a broken nose?’

Roger then attended Des Moines Area Community College and received a certificate in Electronics. He was hired by Electronic Engineering in Des Moines and then by the Financial Information Trust (FIT) where he met his wife of 35 years, Victoria. He left FIT when the company moved out of state and spent the next 25 years with John Deere Financial in Johnston, Iowa. He had a successful career in IT and was able to support his family well which allowed Victoria to stay home with their children.

Roger and Victoria (Turner) were married on November 18, 1989 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena, Illinois. To their union were born four beautiful children; Nicole, Lauren, Tracy and Grant. Roger spent many, many hours with his children coaching, playing games in the front yard, sledding in the winter, and swimming at the Winterset pool in the summer where they loved his made up game, ‘Shark Attack’. Roger also enjoyed gardening, watching Sunday football, NASCAR and mowing the lawn on his John Deere riding lawn mower or plowing the lane with his John Deere tractor. He also loved his membership in the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset where he volunteered during the Lenten fish fry’s and other activities.

One of his proudest moments was when he became a grandpa. He was just as devoted to his grandkids as he was to his kids. If Grandpa was around, he was playing with them while the rest of the family talked.

Roger is survived by his wife Victoria; his children, Nicole (Ross Knobloch) Miller of Winterset, Lauren (Aaron) Elliott of Des Moines, Tracy (Kyle) Sepeda of Ankeny, and Grant (Amanda) Williams of Crete, NE; his grandchildren, Riley, Brent, Nathan and Noah. Roger also leaves behind 2 sisters-in-law, Janet Shaw of Galena, IL and Michelle (Jean-Marc) Domergue of Flower Mound, TX; and 3 brothers, Lloyd (Bev) Williams of Glenwood, Paul Williams and Farrin (Dana) Williams both of Lacona;, and of host of nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Lilalee Williams; and nephew, Sullivan Williams.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. A Rosary will precede Mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. with visitation following from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the family and will be donated to The Refuge, a gospel centered recovery program in Winterset. (refugewinterset.com)
