J. C. Thompson, 69, of Gravois Mills, Mo., died of a combination of cancer and diabetes Wednesday at Still Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo. Services will be at 1 p.m. at Westover Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born in Winterset and had lived in Des Moines for 40 years before moving to Missouri in 1985. He retired in 1985 as a branch manager for Alsco-Anaconda Aluminium, was an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of North High School Alumni Association, First Christian Church, Westside Chamber of Commerce, Sunrise Beach Little Theatre Group, president of the Sunrise Beach Community Center, and a board member of the Hillbilly Fair.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; a son, Richard of Norwalk; a daughter, Karen Bair of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Jerry of Schaumburg, Ill.; a sister, Lois Thompson of Windsor Heights; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call on the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
