John J. Davis, an aged Louisa county resident , living one half mile west of Cotter, passed away Monday, his death occurring on the seventy-second anniversary of his birth. Mr. Davis was a native of Wales. He came to the vicinity of Columbus Junction in 1861, living on a farm four miles south of Cotter until his removal to the farm where he passed away. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Evans. His wife died thirty years ago. The surviving children are John H. Davis at home, Price Davis at home and Humphrey and Walter Davis and Mrs. John G. Thomas at home. The funeral services were held at the home at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. T. Richards officiating. The interment was made in the Cambrian cemetery.
