Word has been received here by relatives of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Garrett, who passed away yesterday at the home of her son, Clarence, at Joplin,Mo., aged 78 years. Mrs. Garrett had been in failing health for a years, but her last serious illness lasted but a week. Her two sons, J. E. and Walter and daughter, Mrs. Julia Freeland, all of this city were called to her bedside Sunday. Mrs. Garrett was born in Kentucky. She first came to this city when the bride of A. Garrett and resided here until about 8 years ago, when she left to make her home in Missouri.

Her husband died several years ago. To Mr. and Mrs. Garrett were born seven children: Clarence, of Joplin, Mo.; R. M., of Laredo, Mo.; George, who did about a year ago in Wisconsin; Frank, who died in infancy; Walter and J. E., of Wapello and Mrs. Julia Freeland, of Wapello. The remains are expected to arrive her at 10:50 tonight and although definite funeral arrangements have not been made, the funeral services will probably be held some time tomorrow from the home of her son, J. E. Garrett.
