Francis Umphrey, an old and highly respected resident of Morning Sun, died Tuesday morning after a linger illness. The deceased was a son of James G. and Nancy F. Umphrey, who came to Louisa county in 1848. He has lived in the vicinity of Morning Sun all of his life and took a prominent part in the affairs of his community. Of his immediate family, he leaves a widow and two sons; also one brother, T. J. Umphrey, of Morning Sun and two sisters, Mrs. S. F. Small of Wapello and Mrs. Dye of western Iowa. He had just passed the age of 73 years. The funeral services will be conducted from the home at 9:30 a. m. today, with interment in Concord cemetery.
