Page 1A terrible accident occurred in Morning Sun yesterday to mar the pleasure of those who were in attendance at the annual Horse Show and Fall Festival which opened in that city yesterday. The accident happened shortly after eleven o'clock when John W. Jarvis, one of the most prominent horsemen in the southeastern, Iowa, was almost instantly killed on the main street of Morning Sun by one of his horses. The horse kicked Mr. Jarvis in the head, crushing the left side of his face and fracturing his skull. Blood poured from the injured man's nose and ears and he died in about twenty minutes without recovering consciousness. The horse was one that Mr. Jarvis had on exhibition at the horse show. The tragedy has cast a gloom over the entire community. Mr. Jarvis was about thirty-five years old. He leaves a widow and one son. He lived on a farm three miles west of town.
