Page 1James Harvey Wilson, one of the pioneers of Louisa county, died at his home in Morning Sun Monday July 22d. He had been in failing health for several months and was at times a great sufferer. Mr. Wilson was born in Preble county, Ohio, Jan. 1, 1831. In 1838, when seven years old, he moved with his parents to Illinois, locating in Washington county, where the family resided until the following year and then removed to Louisa county. Here James attended a subscription school, which was taught by his father, John Wilson, during the winter and in the summer time he assisted with the farm work. He grew to manhood in this county, living the life of a pioneer, and in March, 1869, was united in marriage with Miss Adeline McClurkin, daughter of Thomas McClurkin, one of the early settlers of this county. In 1862 previous to his marriage,
Mr. Wilson made a trip to Oregon, Washington Territory and California, where he remained for three years engaged in freighting. In 1865 Mr. Wilson returned to Louisa county, settling in Morning Sun, where he continued to reside until removed by death. The funeral services were held from his late home Wednesday at 11 a. m., conducted by his pastor, Rev. R. H. Park, of the United Presbyterian church, assisted by Dr. C. D. Trumbull, of the R. P. church. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
