From article found in the Ottumwa Courier on
May 18,2005. The Ottumwa Courier is printed in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. The information was printed in article (not obit) about death of Gayno Smith.
I am going to look up their obits when I have some time off as I have heard that there is some connection from this family to my paternal line.My Dad had used Gayno Smith as a farm hand several times but that is all I remember about him, other than the fear everyone around here felt before he was captured.
