Ada's parents, Thomas William Carpenter and Matilda/Mathilda S. Baldosier Carpenter, were living in Walnut township in Jefferson county, Iowa, per the 1900 U.S. Census. That would be about a stone's throw from Coalport, so well within the margin of error that Ada was born in/near there. The family later relocated to Mount Pleasant, in adjacent Henry county - her parents and at least one sister (Elsie Viola Carpenter Wellington) are buried in Forest Home cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
Ada married her husband Cecil in Mount Pleasant, so it would appear that she kept close roots to this area before moving to Manchester and Waterloo, in Iowa.
The census reports for the family only use the State of Iowa for birth locations, so about the only option left would be to see if her Dec. 28, 2008 death record in Delaware county, Iowa, would provide a more specific birth county location.
However, it may be that she has a Jefferson county birth record - I can look for it when the Fairfield Library and/or Recorder's office are open on Tuesday after the holiday closings.
