Samuel HOLT, one of the older residents of Fairfield and among the best known, passed away this afternoon at two o'clock at his home on West Burlington street, following the effects of a stroke of appoplexy (sic). He lacked but one month of being eithty (sic) years old and general health has been failing during the past few years, leaving him with little strength to withstand this attack.
Mr. HOLT was a man of sterling ccharacter (sic) and kindly disposition, respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He was a devoted member of the Congregational church, of which he has been custodian for nearly thirty years.
The funeral arrangement have not been definitely arranged, but it will probably be held from the church on Monday afternoon, Rev. A. F. Newell conducting the service.
