Page EIGHT, Column 8H. E. HOLMES DIED SUNDAY
Services to be held Tuesday afternoon for resident of FairfieldH. Elmer HOLMES, 58, resident of Fairfield for the past 14 years, passed away about 9:15 o'clock Sunday morning at his home, 401 North Sixth street. He had been in poor health for the past six months, and was stricken seriously ill on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Hoskins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. HOLMES was born October 26, 1882, in Mahaska county. He came to Fairfield 14 years ago.
Surviving him are his wife, and the following children: Wendell of Glencoe, Iowa; Mrs. Ray McINTIRE of Fairfield, Ben and Warren of Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, and George at home. Two granddaughters survive, as do three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Fred DIEHL of Boone, Mrs. Ludy KEITH of Batavia, Mrs. Kathryn JAMESON of Fairfield, and Ben HOLMES of Burlington.

C. C. NORRIS and daughter of Tremont and Horace NORRIS, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank NORRIS of Oskaloosa uncles of the late H. E. HOLMES whose funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Hoskins have returned to their homes as have Mr. and Mrs. Leu KEITH and son, Batavia; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell HOLMES, Blencoe (sic - Glencoe); and Charley HOLMES and daughter of Burlington.
Mr. HOLMES' two sons Pvt. Ben and Staff Sgt. Warren HOLMES both of Camp Claiborne, La., are remaining a few days. His sister Mrs. Fred DEIHL of Boone is also to make a longer stay.
