The fuenral services of Mrs. G W .HOLMES of Birmingham were held this morning at ten o'clock at the Free Methodist church at Birmingham, in charge of Rev. L. Mendenhall and the remains were brought to this city for interrment in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. HOLMES who had been in very poor health for several years passed away Sunday morning at six o'clock at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been for some time.
Martha J. NORRIS who was the daughter of John F. and Laura C. NORRIS, was born August 5th, 1859, in Mahaska county, Iowa, and had been a resident of Jefferson county for over sixteen years. In March, 1909, the family moved to Van Buren county, where they have since resided.
January 12, 1882, she was united in marriage near Oskaloosa, to G. W. HOLMES, who is left to mourn her loss. To this union was born the following children: H. Elmer, Ben R., Nettie, Katie, and Mrs. Ethel FORD, all of Birmingham, and one child who died in infancy.
She is also survived by five brothers and two sisters: Charles NORRIS of Americus, Kansas, Fletcher NORRIS, C. E. NORRIS and H. G. NORRIS of Mahaska county, W. N. NORRIS and Mrs. Hattie E. GOODE of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mrs. Clara E. HOWELL of Vernon Center, Minn.
Mrs. HOLMES was a faithful member of the Free Methodist church throughout her life and leaves many friends who will sympathize with the sorrowing family at this time.

Birmingham Woman Passes Away at Fairfield Hospital After Long IllnessMrs. George HOLMES of Birmingham passed away at the Jefferson county hospital Sabbath morning after being in poor health for a number of years.
Funeral services were held from the Free Methodist church at Birmingham Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. L. Mendenhall. The body was brought here for burial in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. HOLMES was born in Mahaska county August 5th, 1859; was united in marriage with G. W. HOLMES January 12, 1882 and he with the following children survive her: H. Elmer, Ben R., Nettie, Katie and Mrs. Ethel FORD of Birmingham. One child died in infancy. Two brothers and five sisters also survive her.
Mrs. HOLMES identified herself with the Free Methodist church in early life and has always been a faithful member and willing worker in the church.
