George R. Myers, age 81, of Marengo, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Compass Memorial Healthcare. There will be no services. Memorials may be sent to the family in care of Kloster Funeral Home at 298 W. Washington St. Marengo, IA. 52301. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

George is survived by his sister Connie Healey, and two nephews, Rob (Gail) Healey, and Denny (Suzie) Healey. He is preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Marie Myers; his maternal grandparents, Percy and Hazel Edwards; and a brother-in-law Melvin “Butch” Healey.

George Robert Myers was born July 27, 1943, the son of George W. and Marguerite Edwards Myers. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1961. George enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965. He served as an E4 Sargeant stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California where he was a painter. When he returned home, George painted houses and buildings. He was a member of the Marengo American Legion. George enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
