Paul Louis Davidson was born June 6, 1941, as the second son to Roy E. and Opal H. Davidson in Terre Haute, Indiana. His father moved often as a public school teacher establishing a pattern that Paul continued until his mid-50’s when he finally settled down after 43 moves.
Paul was married twice the second time to Chung Yuk Sum. They had a daughter Hoi Ting Davidson. From his first marriage there are four children: Debbie Ray Davidson, Matthew (Matt) Loren Davidson, Christopher (Chris) Roy Davidson and Dyanna Lynn Davidson. There are five grandchildren: Patrick Davidson, Cherise Davidson, Megan Davidson, Gabrielle Davidson and Natasha Davidson. He has one great granddaughter Aaliyah Davidson.
Yuk Sum preceded him in death.
His brother Ernest R. (wife Reba) survive Paul.
Ordained as a minister in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) January 1, 1967, Paul served across the United States in congregational ministry and as a Conference Director. He also served in ecumenical ministries in Hong Kong and with the Episcopal Church in Northwest Texas.
As a Conference Center and Retreat Director he traveled to Europe and Africa. At a World Council of Churches event he met Chung Yuk Sum in Tanzania.
Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at West Union Mennonite Church rural Parnell, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established for a park bench at Willow Creek Park in Iowa City. Donations for the bench can be sent to Powell Funeral Home, PO Box 269, Williamsburg, Iowa 52361..
