Jerry Perkins
Jerry W. Perkins, 62, passed away Sunday (June 23, 2002) at his rural farm home near Britt.
Funeral services for Jerry Perkins will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center St. in Britt, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Jerry, the son of Raymond and Mary Pigman Perkins, was born Nov. 19, 1939, in Forest. City. The family later moved to the Corwith area where Jerry attended Corwith High School.
Jerry entered the United States Air Force in May of 1959.
Jerry was united in marriage with Jean Smith on Sept. 20, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Britt. In 1966. following two tours of duty in Vietnam, Jerry was discharged and moved back to Britt.
He was employed by Winnebago Industries as a consumer relations manager. He was then employed by Fleetwood and Coachman before opening his own business in California.
Jerry was forced to retire in 1995 due to ill health, and the couple moved back to Britt.
Jerry was a member of the VFW and the National Wood Carvers Association. He attended the United Methodist Church in Britt. Jerry served on the Advisory Board RVIA at Mt. Clair College in California and as a temporary consultant for the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency in Los Angeles, Calif.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jean, of Britt; daughter, Jodi Petersen and her husband, Dave, of Audubon; his mother, Mary Perkins, of Kanawha; nine grandchildren, Megan Petersen, Mathew Petersen, Brianna Downer, Scott Downer, Benjamin Petersen, Jolei Downer, Ryan Petersen, Amanda Petersen, and Ashley Petersen; sisters and brothers, Marie Perkins, of Klemme, June Okland, of Stonyford, Calif., Alice Tabb, of Denver, Colo., Joan Andersen, of Jackson, Mo., Marvin Perkins, of Forest City, Ramona Groebner, of New Ulm, Minn., Patricia Penning, of Algona, Allen Perkins, of Hungry Horse, Mont., Ronald Perkins, of Macy, Neb., Robert Perkins. of Britt, Karen Rehr, of Fountain, Mich., and Kathleen Dorr, of Belmond.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond; son, Brian and three infant brothers.
