OBITUARY
Hover T. Knutson was born near Randall, January 9th, 1884, and died at the same home October 10th, 1911. He was the son of Hover Knutson and his wife, Rachel, now Mrs. Hovda. His father came to this country from Stran, Stavanger, Norway, as a youth, and died when his so was but six months old. His mother came from Aardal, Norway, about forty years ago.
During the past couple of years Mr. Knutson had been a victim of consumption and spent the most of the time in Denver, Colo., in the hope that the climate might restore him to health. The change of climate was ineffectual and he later returned home to spend his few remaining days, death coming to him at his old home. He suffered patiently and awaited the end calmly and serenely, dying as a Christian.
Mr. Knutson as a fine young man of noble character. He was quite well-to-do and employed his wealth for the furthering of the Gospel cause, having always been a liberal giver. Moreover he made provisions that his wealth should continue to do good after his death by willing one of his farms, a fine 188 acre tract in Hamilton county, to the Hauges synod to be used for missionary purposes.
Mr. Knutson is survived by his mother, three half-sisters and five half-brothers. The funeral services were held October 12th from the Lutheran church at Randall, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud, officiating, and was attended by a very large crowd of those who had been his friends and neighbors in life and were gathered in the last sad token of respect to his memory.
