J. C. Knutson Dead.
Heron Lake, (Minn.) News Yesterday afternoon J. C. Knutson died at the hospital in Heron Lake, where he had been for some time receiving treatment. Death for some time had been expected, and most of his family were here. Deceased had been a sufferer for many years from rheumatism, but the immediate cause of death was from blood poisoning, caused by running a sliver into his leg. Deceased was one of the best known and highly respected men of this community. He came here with his family in 1902 and bought the Swartout farm, better known as the River Hill Stock Farm. Mr. Knutson was a useful citizen of this community, and will be sadly missed and mourned by all. Besides the wife he leaves twelve children.
Deceased was born in Sovde, Stavanger, Norway, April 17th, 1849. He came to this country with his parents in 1863 locating at Morris, Ill., in May of that year. The family remained there two years and then moved to Hamilton county, Iowa. He was married to Miss Bessie Thompson, October 17, 1874. They continued to reside in Hamilton Co., until 1902 when they came to Heron Lake. He was very successful in farming and business ventures, and has for many years been considered well-to-do.
The children are: Thomas, Charles, Andrew, Martin, Anna, Alice, Jo., Oscar, Martha, Bertha, Clarence and Silas. Anna is now Mrs. John T. Bonhus.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Salem Lutheran church in this town.
