OBITUARY
Elizabeth Neely was born in Clarion county, Pennsylvania, November 18, 1843, and died at Des Moines, Saturday night, April 29, 1911, at ten-thirty o'clock. She was the youngest of a family of twelve, four girls and eight boys. She lived with her parents at the place of her birth until she was twelve years old, then two years at Alton, Ill., then moved to Knoxville, Iowa, where she lived with her parents until she grew to womanhood. There she was married to Mr. Alfred Green, April 15th, 1866, and to this union five children were born, all of whom survive their mother. They are Mrs. Jennie Manbeck, Mrs. Mary Seither, and Oscar Green, all of Des Moines, Warren Green of Jewell. All the children were present at the end except Warren, and all were in attendance at the funeral services.
As an infant Mrs. Green was baptized in the faith of the Church of Christ, and until her death was always a faithful and devoted Christian woman. In March, 1906, she moved with her husband and younger son to Jewell, where the family lived on the farm northwest of town. March 18, 1907, her husband died and a year later Mrs. Green went to Des Moines, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Manbeck, until the time of her death. During the two years she lived in this vicinity, Mrs. Green won many friends and very highly esteemed by everyone.
Ever since last fall Mrs. Green had been in very low health, suffering with cancer of the stomach, and eight weeks before her death her condition became critical. Funeral services were held Tuesday of last week from Capitol Hill Church of Christ, and the body was laid at rest beside the remains of her husband in Soldiers Plot in beautiful Woodland cemetery in Des Moines.
The Record extends its sympathy to the members of the bereaved family in their loss.
